Surveillance video of a wee-hours ruckus at a Macon Wal-Mart on Sunday shows a teenager race inside flashing gang signs ahead of a mob of four dozen or so people who burst in and smashed merchandise.
The commotion, which caused an estimated $2,000 in damage, appears to have been planned.
Some in the crowd also snatched a man, apparently a shopper at the Zebulon Road store, from a motorized shopping cart and dragged him to the floor, Bibb County sheriff’s officials said Monday.
The vandals, said to number between 40 and 50, sprinted down the store’s main aisle about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, “destroying merchandise displays and items,” a sheriff’s deputy’s report of the incident noted.
Floors in parts of the store were “coated with broken merchandise,” the report added. “The length of the store from front to rear was lined with items which had been shattered, destroyed, turned over and thrown about.”
When sheriff’s deputies got there, the crowd “began to flee into many different vehicles and leave the scene,” the report said.
The store, next to Lowe’s, is just east of Interstate 475 in one of the area’s most frequented shopping districts.
The teenager seen leading the rushing horde of young men and women told a Wal-Mart employee “that this was a planned event ... to see how much damage they could cause,” the sheriff’s report said.
The teen, identified as 17-year-old Kharron Nathan Green, of Ashton Drive in northwest Bibb County, was arrested when he returned to the store to retrieve his cellphone.
Green was jailed and later released on bond after being charged with inciting a riot and second-degree damage to property.
Green, according to the sheriff’s report, first told cops that “he did not know anything about what had happened in the store and that he did not know anyone involved.”
But when his mother and father arrived and watched the surveillance footage with sheriff’s deputies, the report said “Green admitted to his parents that the male in the video was indeed him.”
He refused to name others in the crowd, but according to the report said they had all come from a party on the city’s south side.
“Hopefully we can identify the others,” Sheriff David Davis said Monday. “Hopefully it’s not a pattern of behavior.”
Davis wondered about the parental supervision of the young people involved.
“Due to the lateness of the hour,” he said, “I don’t know that they were going to be going to church the next morning.”

Yet we have all been made in God’s image, and we know that Jesus died for the sake of all humanity, and as it says in Revelation, which my tagline refers to, there will be people in Heaven from every nation.
And can’t we easily find so many examples of people of African descent exhibiting truly Christian and/or moral behavior (meaning from the conscience God has given all people), while we can so easily find many examples of people of other ancestries exhibiting unchristian and immoral behavior? We can find endless examples of both.
So then why should it be presumed from incidents like this one that evil behavior is any more in the nature of people of African descent than it is any other people? Humans are evil, as we all witness all around us every day, and that evil will tend to take the form of people’s circumstances. I personally grew up in almost all-white, middle-class and upper-middle class communities, and among the teens and the adults I saw so much evil of many different forms that it could be expected from that alone that young people of poor backgrounds, and in the case of African-American young people, whose families for centuries faced a great deal of systematic harassment, rejection, and sabotage, would also do evil, although of somewhat different sorts than that done by people in different circumstances.
Is that his mugshot? Looks really repentant.

Judging by the comments, I am guessing this story has hit the drudge report? Admittedly there is a higher crime problem with black Americans. But most Walmarts were not ransacked last night, most businesses were not robbed last night. Almost everyone managed NOT to be murdered. Yet typical racist and biggots flock to black crime stories like flies on cattle dung. Some of you almost seem orgasmic to fault the many for the crimes of a few. Although many of you profess to know God, few of you seem to follow his example and judge a man on his own merit’s. By your own playbook, type child sex offender into Google news search. The vast majority are white middle aged men. We all know most mass muders have been perpetrated by white male’s, including the recent church massacre. Would be fair to the call all white male’s pedophiles, perverts and mass killer’s? I think not. I think the Lord’s way of judging every person for their own action is the best and most correct course. Apparently some of you think you know better than our creator.

Depends on how close he is to being 18. Ringleaders always get the blame and pay the price.
If they send him to Juvenile Hall to “await trial,” and he should happen to have a birthday

Conspiracy to commit assault and riot should put these thugs in prison for at least ten years each. They'll still be dangerous when they get out, but at least their neighbors will be safer for a decade.
