With the Supreme Courts historic ruling that effectively legalizes same-sex marriage in all 50 states, the 2016 presidential candidates really have no choice today but to comment on the decision from one angle of another. Heres what they had to say.
Hillary Clinton was quick out of the gate with a personal statement, followed by a rebranding of her campaign logo that has already been retweeted more than 20,000 times:

I dont think many governors will do that. Maybe none. This issue is basically over from a legal standpoint. Liberals won. Yes there will comments made in blogs and chat rooms etc but little if any real opposition. Next battle involves the churches.
Surprised about perry.
I was commenting on walker not Rubio.
I remember that Walker quote well. It’s the reason I dropped every bit of interest and every bit of respect in him that I once had. I’ve tuned him out ever since.
That's right. It is up to the States to take this back and if they stopped issuing all marriage licenses, then there would be a big backlash against this ruling.
From a legal standpoint, any state that had a law limiting licenses to one man and one woman no longer has any statutory authority for issuing a marriage license to anyone.
But do we think any Governor is going to take this tack?
Probably not. Nobody has courage anymore.
Walker giving up without thinking of any other route was not the reaction of a leader. Surrendering to tyranny is not acceptable.
There's a bit of a problem paraphrasing Andrew Jackson in this instance. He was the head of the Executive Branch, in charge of enforcing law. For (at least) the next 18 months, we have an Executive and AG all too willing to enforce THIS ruling, as it fits their agenda.
Who gives a damn what any of these say. There is not one that represent us. Not one.
Once again the Bush appointed Supreme Court Justice John Roberts has let us down. Jeb pushed him hard! Remember!
9:06 AM - 26 Jun 2015"
The Donald connecting a few dots in his Tweet. I Googled around and read that Roberts went to Florida during the 2000 recount and got to know Jeb. Jeb was impressed, and according to The Donald, Jeb apparently recommended Roberts to W very highly for the SCOTUS.
Rubio said, “It’s the law. We have to follow it.”
Oh I’m sorry. I guess I am tired. I though Walker was wimpy, too, but I don’t remember the specifics. I wrote him off a week or two ago when he said we should just focus on economics.
States issue marriage licenses. They don't have to. There is nothing that says that States have to issue a license to anyone to get married. They can stop. They can either sanction homo marriage or they can refuse to sanction any marriage at all.
Traditionally Churches sanctified the marriages and then kept the records. The State took over the role of the Church in marriage and then instituted the whole idea of marriage licenses.
The Feds can only get involved if the state discriminates against homos. If they don't issue any licenses at all, then they are treating everyone the same.
Rubio is a jellyfish.
Note the tweet mocking the US "#LoveWins"

OK I read Walker’s statement again. It is pretty good. Thanks for inspiring me to reread it. I am still bothered by his early statement. He seems to waffle on the issues most important to me. But I stand corrected on this one. He did pretty good. Cruz and Huckabee did the best.
Previously she opposed same sex marriage.
I am surprised at Ben Carson’s support for civil unions. That is such a bogus argument, as though calling it something different makes any difference. I can never vote for him now.
If these states would get themselves out of the marriage business altogether, then that would be fair to everyone. Since they didn’t do marriage, then they wouldn’t have to recognize marriages from other states.
The could use the liberal argument: “Separation of church and state. You want that, then go get some religion to do it. We aren’t doing religious functions around here.”
But in this case, not that I care greatly since Roberts voted wrong on Obamacare, did not Roberts actually dissent from gay marriage and wanted traditional marriage? This confuses me. I think Kennedy was the turncoat and Roberts, oddly enough voted correct on this. Maybe I have this wrong.
“John Robertss full-throated gay marriage dissent: Constitution had nothing to do with it”
From the article:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states completely undermines America’s democratic process.
That’s the bold statement Chief Justice John Roberts made in his principal dissent. In one day, Roberts said, the court has basically transformed the societal institution that has held together humanity for millennia.
“Who do we think we are?” he said.”
So, Roberts happened to be right, if I have this right and Trump got his tweet mixed up... or something, maybe Trump was commenting on the Obamacare fiasco (backstabbing).
