At any other time, this statement would be wholly unremarkable. In the thick of a GOP presidential primary, though? Right after the the hottest hot-button social issue of em all has gone nuclear? When Mike Huckabees vowing some sort of second American revolution in defiance of the Courts ruling?
Kinda newsy.
I believe that marriage, as the key to strong family life, is the most important institution in our society and should be between one man and one woman. People who disagree with the traditional definition of marriage have the right to change their state laws. That is the right of our people, not the right of the unelected judges or justices of the Supreme Court. This decision short-circuits the political process that has been underway on the state level for years.

The Rube proves once again what a feckless loser he really is.
I will never vote for Rubio no matter what.
>I’m for Cruz, but I have countenanced the idea of possibly having to vote for him, say he were to win the Repub primary, NOT NOW, his comments today ended that.
Plessy v. Ferguson was the law of the land too. Supreme Court sanctioned Jim Crow.
Ruck Fubio!
This is the same “law of the land” meme Crap Sandwich Boehner handed us after the first ObamaCare ruling.
The establishment GOP is breathing huge sigh of relief after these two rulings this week. Lets not kid ourselves.
The lesson to learn here is never give the government control on something unless you want them to have total control.
Because government will take total control and never give it back.
When we allowed the government to issue marriage licenses and perform ceremonies and give monetary consideration on marriage status the door was opened and they walked right in and now they own the whole thing.
Next will be multiple partners. I figure within 5 years. Probably sooner.
I think Mario could give Cankles a real run for her money if he declared his candidacy for the Demo rat nomination.
FUMR
The Supreme Court, the Congress, the President are all lawless.
They don’t follow the law so why should we?
I will never vote for Rubio no matter what.
DITTO!!!!!!!!!
I think we are indeed living in dangerous times.
I don’t think the words of Huckabee or Jindal are going to be persuasive.
Rubio is facing a sad reality, isn’t he?
We have to do a better job of persuading the population we are right about the nature of marriage.
The left was celebrating the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, certain they were going to steam roll the pro-life movement.
Now, I do agree that abortion has been a travesty and God is going to judge this nation (or is in the process of judging us) for the sin of infanticide. BUT I would also point out that the left was DEAD WRONG about the pro-life movement.
The pro-life movement is strong and is persuasive—making inroads in American culture. And while we haven’t yet won the day, we aren’t out of the picture either.
We are indeed providing the biblical point of view, and that means in the end we will emerge victorious.
I don’t think Rubio or Jindal or Huckabee are giving up on that notion.
Call me crazy, but AllahPundit’s speculation of the GOP “pivot to defending religious American’s right to association” is probably a better idea in the short run. (While never giving up the fight for a revival of the true meaning of marriage.)
I even opened up a discussion here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3304556/posts
about how ONE single conservative justice could overturn this ruling—hoping that a conservative President could replace Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg with another Scalia or Thomas...and get this travesty overturned.
Just my thoughts.
I HATE Rubio! When will Mosques honor the SCROTUS ruling? Also, doesn’t Rubio know that the SCROTUS doesn’t MAKE laws?
Why should WE THE PEOPLE abide by the law when our government doesn’t??
...political sissy....
Well, unless you're "Felony" Clinton, or Lois Lerner, or Jon Corzine, or Charlie Rangel.
They're Elites, so they don't have to abide by the law.
You peasants do, though.
That's why I call it "peasant law".
Like hell!!!
Rubio was jumping on the amnesty bangwagon not that long ago, wanting to REWARD those who broke our laws!
How dare this twerp even talk about abiding by the law. This nation has become lawless and delegitimate, with leaders who have ignored each and every rule of law. I’ll NEVER abide by this abomination, and I’ll happily see the country dead first! Go to hell, Rubio! You cowardly piece of scum!
BOOM...Rubio self-destructs....
We live with a Constitution that is being abused and ignored.
The separation of powers means nothing.
Written law means nothing.
This is tyranny, not a ‘republic’.
I've been told that the answer is not to leave this nation behind, stick around and change things.
When the Communists and Fascists took over Europe in the 20th century, it wasn't safe to 'stick around' and hope for things to get better.
America was/is the last best hope. And right now it's going down the hard left tubes.
