Trump Surges in Popularity in N.H., Taking Second Place in Suffolk Poll
Wall Street Journal ^ | June 23rd, 2015 | By Reid J. Epstein

He’s dismissed by the political professionals, but there is no denying that the appetite for Donald Trump among Republican primary voters is real.

The New York developer and reality television star is second among 2016 presidential candidates in a new Suffolk University poll of New Hampshire Republicans – behind only former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

The poll of 500 likely GOP presidential primary voters found 14% back Mr. Bush. Mr. Trump is right behind at 11%. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio come next, with 8% and 7%, respectively. The poll tested 19 GOP candidates – a rare survey that included ultra-longshots like Mark Everson and former Govs. Bob Ehrlich and Jim Gilmore.

While Mr. Trump is experiencing a bump in popularity after announcing the launch of his campaign last week (he filed formal Federal Elections Commission paperwork Monday), he remains the most disliked GOP candidate in the field. Suffolk found he is the only GOP candidate with a net unfavorable rating in New Hampshire — 37% of those surveyed had a favorable opinion of Mr. Trump, compared to 49% who had an unfavorable view.

FWIW, I know plenty of people who are so fed up with DC that they’re ready to vote for Trump or Sanders. The anger cuts across the political spectrum.

He does have some winning positions, but one day you’ll wonder why as a conservative you ever fell for him. I promise you.

Happened four years ago. Will happen again. He is what he is, and he’s no conservative (over all).

Oh I don’t support him...but I like that he’s saying some things that need to be said.

As for supporting dems well what’s worse...that or betraying the repubs as Boehner and McConnell do continually?

Again , I do not support him I support Cruz. But I do like the bombs he throws.

I haven't fallen for him. I'm waiting to see if he'll develop his winning positions into a sensible campaign that the adddresses issues others are afraid of without the excesses that put some voters off.

Don’t be fooled. He has supported Democrats with his donations for years.

Just TRY to get any land deals done in NY, NJ, and CHI without greasing the palms of Democrats. We'll see how far you get.

I don’t think he’ll develop a sensible campaign, because over his lifetime his politics has been incoherent and more often liberal or establishment than conservative or base or tea party.

BUT: I do welcome his tone and his attitude and his passion into the field.

No, it makes him someone who gets what he wants within the current system.

I think this is where this election is headed.

...right now he's putting on the heat...and that is a good thing, and “The Old Hag” might think she can stand up to him in a debate, but he would rip her to streads....

...don't know what kind of POTUS he would make, who he will have as his cabinet and appointees, but he sure wouldn't stand for any b.s. because ‘nobody’ owns him....

with the exception of tariffs, and bashing China, he is. He’s said not a damned thing about Obama Care roll back. Not a damned thing about taxes. Not a damned thing about regulations. Not a damned thing about reigning in the IRS.

Tariffs protect - artificially- a few thousand workers at the real expense of 300 million consumers. It does not necessarily create growth. It gave us an outsized UAW, and how did THAT work out for growth?

Correct me if I’m wrong if Trump has mentioned any liberalism that’s hurting the country....I’d love to be wrong actually, but he seems totally blind to the self imposed liberalism that is driving jobs away.

Trump is a scummy New York Yankee and unfit to have a leadership position in America

The fact he is a New Yorker is reason enough to be excluded from rational consideration

If you think announcing is going to lend to his credibility you are dreaming. The man is still a clown.

Doesn’t matter. He’s still no more than 9th or 10th in the RC average. If the Clown posse thinks that’s something to crow about have at it.
