So, of course, by “we fight like we train” you mean to imply that we train on U.S. soil in order to fight Americans on U.S. soil, right?
You mean like Berlin and a host of other cities we’ve fought in?
Well, the Russians captured Berlin, but yeah, I have a feeling Tim Brown isn’t old enough to have been talking about WWII.
Yeah WWII is the last war where we’ve fought in a city.
Right
“Yeah WWII is the last war where weve fought in a city.”
Well, let’s see, do you think we were mostly fighting in urban terrain in Korea and Vietnam? What other wars could he be talking about that were “back in my day”? Gulf War I? That was in the desert.
It is dog training conditioning. To get people used to a military presence on the streets.
As a little kid in the 60s, you would have been shocked and alarmed to see cops walking around the streets with machine guns...like they do in 3rd world countries. Now? See the concern? Conditioned.
Chinese markings on helicopters?
I did in the early 50’s when I was in Korea.
Everette Washington does not resemble likely battlefields in the Middle East.
Yep, conditioning the populace and the military
Who made them? I can find no reference to Chinese choppers? Elucidate, please, I’m interested. Sikorsky? Bell? Who made them?
At this point the FEMA bus could pull up out front and I would not be shocked.
The origin of the Chinese helicopter industry can be traced back to the late 1950s, when the Soviet Union agreed to help the Chinese Communist Party to build helicopters for both military and civil purposes. The first domestic helicopter built by the Chinese was the Z-5 (Zhishengji-5), which was based on the Soviet Mil Mi-4 Hound with some modifications.
The development of the Z-5 began in 1958 by Harbin Aircraft Factory (now Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, HAMC ), which later became one of the two primary helicopter manufacturers in China. The design documents of the Mi-4 was handed to the Chinese in February 1958, and the first Chinese-built Z-5 make its first flight in December of the same year. Initial batch production began in 1959, but the production certificate was not issued until 1963 due to some serious quality problems.....Were you still there in 1963?
So? Why does it have to resemble the Middle East? Are we supposed to assume all the wars we may have to fight will be in the Middle East from now on?
Kinda the point of this is that they must be expecting a war here in the US.
Glad to see you’re catching up.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15’s were the jet fighters flown by Chinese, North Korean AND Russian pilots.
I knew that my comment on the helicopters in Korea with ‘Chinese’ markings in the war wasn’t true. Mikoyan later did develop copters for the Chinese and they weren’t available until around 1960.
The only copters the Chinese and North Koreans got their hands on were ours after crashing.
“Kinda the point of this is that they must be expecting a war here in the US.”
Well, yeah, I’ve gathered that’s what the paranoid patrol has concluded. Of course, we’ve been hearing that line from them for at least 20 years now, so pardon me if it’s not a compelling argument, since they have always been wrong in the past with their similar claims.
Then why train here?
The answer lies in the timing
The helicopters are returning to base AFTER LUNCH
(Sound of hyperventilating) - YES! YESYESYES!!
Wait, what were we talking about? Oh, yeah, the Mariners suck again this year. Sort of saps yer will to live.
Try Googling US Marines and Hue City.
