The first reports of the massive penetration of Office of Personnel Management files and security clearance applications apparently by Chinese hackers most likely working for, or with, that countrys military intelligence apparatus included grumbles from the affected employees that the administration didnt handle the situation very well.
Those early grumbles were but the snap responses of a few individual employees the media chose at random. Now that the millions of people potentially affected by the hack have been given a few days to digest the news and consider the Administrations response, their attitude has soured into what government employees described to BuzzFeed as collective panic.
It is interesting that the mainstream press has not exerted itself to collect a wide range of responses. Usually theyre all about the human-interest angle. Every news organization could easily talk to dozens, or hundreds, of federal employees and produce a piece like BuzzFeeds, but they have not.
Tellingly, only former government employees jeopardized by the hack were willing to go on the record with BuzzFeed. Current employees insisted on remaining anonymous.

This is sufficiently damaging, that it just might be something that Obama or his American hating functionaries wanted to happen, or even facilitated by not caring about security.
I suppose this now means obummer will now think he has to “negotiate” with the chicoms, just like he is doing with the Iranian terrorists. (SARC)
So if you both are fed gov employees and assuming you are in the CONUS I trust you guys work an alternate shift since your on FR at 10:15 am EST correct? :)
Dude....I watched both Forbin Project movies when they came out. Read the book, too. Great.
A response that has become all too common around here...devoid of any insight.
I never said anything about being a current or former FEDGOV employee. But if you must know, I am retired, but working as needed, but not as a FEDGOV employee. Rest easy there V_TWIN, I’m doing all this on my own time. :0)
I’m a fed, it’s 10:20am, I’m on the clock and posting on FR.
I wasn’t on the clock Sunday when I worked for 4 hours on a project, or when I was flying home at 10:30pm from working all that day, or the 1.5 hours I stayed late yesterday to help a client.
I don’t get OT or comp time, I do above and beyond the expectations of my job. I worked in private sector for many years and saw plenty of abuse there...
How quaint.
Yep....just like I expect the IRS, ATF, DOJ, DHS, TSA, FBI and NSA to be ‘honest’....hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Atlas Shrugged is now nonfiction.
I’m on leave today, not that it’s any of your business. . For all you know I was on a break or on trav.
You think only government bureaucrats, hacks, minions and drones are affected by this?
This affects the military as well as possibly DoD contractors...it appears the whole damned system was compromised.
All of ‘em.
Government employees fit multiple subcategories of people who vote for Obama.
Well....hack? Maybe, but I’d fully expect that somewhere in this whole ObamaCare project that information is GIVEN away to anyone willing to pay for it, or at the very least misuse it.
The poor nsa weenies must have the vapors, since someone is exercising unreasonable search and seizure over them.
it’s always an inside job. Low tech, buy a password and you are in. The trick is covering your tracks on the way out.
Works in a civil war scenario too.
