So why not allow hijabs? And burqas?

(((
I’ll give that one less than 3 years to come down the pike.

Perhaps our Army, before spending all that time and money on a losing case, should have touched base with the British and Indian armies to find out how they dealt with the gas mask and other issues in WWII and later.

However, they were busy worrying about how to assimilate transgenders, etc.

Perhaps the American military should run our own military, Commander in chief Ronald Reagan laid down the law to these activist, in 1981, when he became President.

This is got nothing to do with religious practices. It is all about uniformity and sealing the protective mask. Doesn’t work with a beard.

Yup! Hell, there should be at least one Sikh in every platoon. Early warning to go to MOPP 4.

The mask sealing bit is pretty much hooey, because a large number of personnel have faces that are too narrow for an effective seal. They supposedly had extra small masks for them, but they never worked.

The Army has spent tens of millions of dollars in developing protective masks, and the standard mask is the best they have ever had, but it still is far from satisfactory.

Sikhs and Muslims working together? Strange bedfellows if true. The two religions are completely unrelated. Sikhism is a separate monotheistic religion which sprang up in India. They have been fighting wars against Islam for centuries, and they were the backbone of the British Army in South Asia through the Afghan wars and WWII and served with distinction in WWI in Europe as well. Now they’re the same for the Indian Army in opposition to Pakistan and China. Unlike the politically correct policy that Islam is a “religion of peace” Sikhs are under no such delusion.

Who said anything about them working together, and we aren’t talking about the two peoples who white men defeat in war.

We are talking about the United States military and these activists wanting their turbans and beards and whatever else, that means Sikhs and Muslims right now.

Reagan opposed this nonsense, and made it firm policy, and conservatives oppose it with him, since when do conservatives start cheering these activist efforts by militant specialty groups?

The issue is simple, you vacant (vacate?) Constitutional protections once you enter into the Military. No other organization is like it and should be kept as much.

The military is somewhere between Indentured Servitude and Slavery. However, many of us chose that very restrictive path and career...

They have served in the British Army well. Why not use them?
