Yes, you did rock me. That S&G tune is one of my very favorites. I just wish George McGovern hadn't used it as his campaign theme.

I saw the late Jester Hairston, who played the elderly Rollie in "Amen" on NBC, conduct a choral performance of the song that was hair raising. Hairston was a choir director by trade, not an actor as such. On two occasions, in 1961 and 1976, I attended a Jester Hairston lecture on sacred music at the churches that I attended. On both occasions, he had the audience singing along. He was a very effective teacher and knew his subject thoroughly.
I also saw him in the 1960 movie The Alamo.

We sure did hit ‘em! I wish I had thought to bring mine home. I need proof. LOL!
It was so wonderful to connect with these great people again, especially my Sissy! :)
....and playing tunes for the troops is one of the best things we share here. They deserve our undying gratitude for what they do for us!

I just wish George McGovern hadn't used it as his campaign theme. I was unaware that McGovern used "Bridge over Troubled Water" as his campaign theme song. I figured he used these:

A very pleasant good Saturday morning to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.
Welcome, everyone to the Canteen Music Dedication. The music is provided for the enjoyment of the troops and their families. Our thanks to the Canteen DJ's for posting the music.
Please support the artists by buying their music and attending their concerts when they come to your area.
