House Democrats rebuffed a dramatic personal appeal from President Obama on Friday, torpedoing his ambitious push to expand his trade negotiating power and, quite likely, his chance to secure a legacy-defining trade accord spanning the Pacific Ocean.

(Not saying to vote Dem, LOL)
FU! Obummer!
Their phone lines were incandescent. I was able to get through, but others have told me they weren’t.
BINGO!!!
“.......and those folks that didn’t vote, I hear your voices too.........”
“Besides, no president should have the power to sign secret deals or near secret deals. What were we thinging!?”
The president couldn’t make secret trade deals. Any trade deal would have to go to congress for an up or down vote - they couldn’t add amendments, the vote would be up or down on the trade deal.
So you say.
The Senator who beat out and replaced Eric Cantor (forgot his name), said otherwise in a radio interview last night.
Cruz has explained his positions in all important areas including, in detail, the TPA trade bill and the secret TPP bill. Regarding the TPP secret bill, he says it should not have been secret but it will be public for 60 days before they vote on it. That info. is at the approximate 55/56 minute point in his speech in New Hampshire on June 1, 2015..
I urge everyone to listen to his very long speech and answering audience questions. You will know exactly where he stands on every important issue. Here is the link:

Be an informed voter and listen to what Cruz actually says instead of believing whatever someone else says about his position on important issues.
Ted Cruz is going to just dig in even though he is wrong. I wonder how many votes it will cost him. Don’t get me wrong, he needs to vote his conscience. I just suspect his conscience has been wrongly informed/influenced.
It is handing congressional power to the executive branch.
Precisely, which is why the oligarchy that supported him will now be looking for an early exit strategy. Look for some congressional investigation to suddenly bear fruit and lead to an attack from the oligarchy-owned MSM.
So where is the House roll call vote on TPP?
Looks like they might be playing hide the ball until the flames burn out. Then they can sneak it through in the middle of the night before they go home for the 4th of July.
Never trust these weasels.
The Enemy of my Enemy is today, my Friend.
Bash away at the Unions all you wish but today they kept this whole Country from becoming subjected to the rules of some turd world shithole leader or organization like the UN.
Think about that just a bit...
Interesting take on the topic.
Yup, I've been thinking that was one of the drivers on the Dem side. And on the Pub side as well. Different votes for the same reason. I think that's one of the reasons Cruz is behind it.
You pretty much need "fast track" in order to get any negotiated treaty passed, because you can't have a finished treaty be amended by congress, since that would require that version to be resubmitted back to the treaty partners for approval.
That said, it doesn't remove the Constitutional necessity of having a 2/3 majority to approve them.
Calling them "trade agreements" to get around the 2/3 requirements rather than simply having up/down votes on them as treaties is dishonest. Of course anyone who looks for honesty from our government is a fool who will ultimately be disappointed. Our feral government will do what it wants, when it wants to get what will most quickly enrich the oligarchy.
It was supposed to be retraining, but the money was coming out of Medicare. Some genius thought of putting the third rail in there. It’s like watching Sudoku being made.
I e-mailed my uber leftist democrat congresswoman and begged her to listen to Barbara Boxer and vote against this 0bamatrade bill. I feel like a live in bizarro world.
Give it up. Cruz was wrong and is wrong. Get over it.
The only reason you supported TPA was because Cruz voted for it. Admit it.
There isn’t a single long term freeper who would have supported this crap sandwich if it didn’t have Ted Cruz’s approval.
Follow the money.
We now have an idea of how the British felt at Yorktown.
Politics makes for some extremely strange bed mates.
