Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, defended his decision to vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)—among other deals—during a Thursday interview with the Hugh Hewitt radio program.
Hewitt started his line of questioning with coming out of a commercial. “Let’s take that opportunity, then, to go and talk about free trade—TPA, TPP, Export-Import Bank. Sen. Cruz, for clarity’s sake, can you quickly give us an overview on where you are on those three issues, as there’s quite a lot of confusion among conservative voters as to where different people are and why on each of those three issues.”
“Sure,” Cruz responded. “There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so let’s explain what each of those three are.”
Cruz, by saying that, was essentially making the exact same claim—blaming the Internet for what he argues is “misinformation”—as House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60%. Ryan made the claim on Fox News earlier on Thursday in response to Breitbart News reporting highlighted by the massively influential Drudge Report. Ryan, with whom Cruz pushed Obamatrade in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in late April—one that’s been used by Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)40% to try to rally support for Obamatrade—has been essentially discredited by various false statements he’s made throughout this process.
That Cruz would use the same talking points as him is interesting and probably disappointing to many conservatives. That Boehner is using Cruz to push Obamatrade is probably even more disappointing to most conservatives... ...

Sadly, I don’t think people care to listen to him. No wonder some of us can never find anyone good enough to vote for. We put candidates on the chopping block for the slightest perceived offense, whether true or not.
As I wrote, Senator Cruz is very, very good on so many issues. Why would we suddenly distrust him on this one? Wouldn’t it be wise to at least give it a closer look? Maybe he’s right.

He is still wrong to empower a tyrant. I support him and will vote for him because his positives far outweigh this f’up. But he is wrong. None of his explaining means squat because none of it stops Barry from wielding power.

Pissant was actually the reason I started posting again on FR. All the Freepers that hate me have him to thank ;)
In other words, he really believes he is right. Okay. I really believe he is wrong. The critics make more sense to me. And “Cruz has read the bill” is not good enough. He supported it BEFORE he read it.

I was assigned the research on Jindal in one of my Teaparty groups. So far I like Jindal very much. Have been a big supporter of Cruz and Walker, but Jindal has many great strengths. We still have plenty of time.
You’re shooting from the hip there just because I’m raising questions about you’re choosen candidate. It’s not my fault but Cruz’s for betraying his principles. I like Paul and I like Cruz... Hell I like the whole wackobird contingent. But Cruz had been fumbling the ball..and it could prove costly to American freedom.
How many terms has he served in the Senate ?
