Miss Piggy - as in The Muppets' Miss Piggy - published an op-ed for Time magazine in which she lists all of the way she is a feminist.
On Thursday, Miss Piggy is being awarded the prestigious Sackler Center First Award from the Brooklyn Museum's Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art. The award, granted to women who have made outstanding contributions in their field, has previously honored former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Toni Morrison and Julie Taymor.
Miss Piggy (whose editorial was actually penned by The Muppets Studio) writes that some "Internet opinion-givers" might question whether she deserves this honor. She responds to these critics by saying, "Moi is now and has always been an ardent feminist and champion of women's rights."
"I believe that any woman who refuses to accept society's pre-conceived notions of who or what they can be is a feminist," writes Miss Piggy. "I believe any woman who is willing to struggle, strive - and if necessary learn karate - to make their mark in the world is a feminist. And, yes, I believe that any woman, who cares about her appearance, her star billing and most especially her percentage of the gross, is a feminist."
Miss Piggy explains even though she was born on a farm and was told to expect a life full of mud, sweat, tears and 4-H fair trips, she aimed for something bigger and better. "Today, I live in Hollywood, where there is still a lot of mud, sweat and tears, but the hours and compensation are much more attractive."
She explains she doesn't burn her bras because her intimate apparel is expensive and "setting it ablaze is wasteful, improvident and highly incendiary." She does however, shop on Fifth Avenue "whenever possible" in feminist "solidarity."

Ironically, Miss Piggy wouldn’t have ever existed without the men who created her, voiced her, and found her a job.
That photo says it all (not the Muppet one; but the “occupy” kids). Kids don’t generally have to say “boo” to a goose (work) these days. So, they have to conjure up some “cause” or the other. - Mere survival used to be enough of a “cause”. Now, EVERYONE wants to be IMPORTANT, so having the next meal on the table isn’t even a consideration. So, they DEMONSTRATE.
Maybe the reason Miss Piggy is attracted to Kermit is that he is not, and can never be, a male chauvinist pig.
Time Magazine... There was once a time when I seriously respected that brand. OK, not in the last 30 years, but still...
NBC has really jumped the shark. The Muppets could have been rebooted into a fun, family franchise akin to what Disney did with Marvel and Star Wars. But, from day one of the new reboot they have chosen to push leftist politics in family films that I would like to watch with my family, but won’t because I hate to be preached at. Screw NBC I hope their new Muppet Show fails.
My bad the Muppets are owned by ABC, still whoever heads up that division is a moron.
Miley (anything for a buck) Cyrus. Look at ME, ME, ME, ME. The little pet pig is clueless that he’s being used to hide Miley’s assets. - That girl was on some talk show or the other several years ago with her father (Billy Ray) & she was smart-mouthing him & putting him down as if he was NOBODY. Sad. - Money, money, money . . . & that’s the bottom line.
-Beware-
She’s so predictable it’s cliché.
as a muslim i am offended by this op ed. who do i have to decapitate in order to have my jihadism satisfied.
lalalalalalalalala
piggy must wear a burkha
If it's serious, it's pathetic. If it's satire, brilliant.
Reminds me of the blog Everyday Feminism.
The insanity is so thick, you can't tell whether it's a gigantic put on, or real.
Miley's dog is attacked by a coyote (or wolf), so her take home message?
Become a vegan.
For real.
I would have thought, how how random and cruel nature can be. But some animals are designed to eat meat.
It's instinctual, and the way the real world works.
