John Kasich sees opportunity thanks to Jeb Bush’s rough start

Ohio Governor John Kasich said Thursday that he has been prodded toward a presidential bid by former Florida governor Jeb Bush’s failure to establish a commanding lead in the Republican primary.

“Frankly, I thought that Jeb was going to just suck all the air out of the room. And it just hasn’t happened. No hit on Jeb,” Kasich said, explaining his consideration of a second run at the White House.

The two-term governor and former US House member, who briefly ran for president in 2000, has failed to show much strength in early polling. But his leadership of a swing state, conservative fiscal record dating to his House tenure, and folksy style have made him an appealing candidate to some Republicans.

“He talks like I do,” said Doug Scamman, the former speaker of the New Hampshire House, whose farm played host to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential launch.

Well, I AM an Ohioan and as many stated on here - our governor is a bit of an oddball. I sure don’t agree with his expanding Medicaid or his support of Common Core, but, he is fine on other issues. I’m not sure where he stands on illegals though. He does have a habit of going down rabbit holes when he speaks. I, too, would love to see him replace Commie Sherrod Brown as a Senator. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if he gets any traction. He has done some good things for our state - so, he isn’t all bad. We aren’t going to get someone we agree 100% with. To think this is fantasy thinking. However, there are some things that will knock someone out of my vote - and supporting illegals is ONE of them. That’s why Jeb Bush is so dead to me - he speaks more of the illegals than he does of Americans and it’s just sickening.

“Sad. And they march with their flag in our country.”

You have to give them credit for being loyal to their own country. Unlike the GOP establishment.

I was thinking the same thing too. A Republican can’t win the White House without Ohio, so Kasich could be a major player, but he reeks too much of establishment for me.

He’s not a blue-blood conservative, but he’s not a Rino either. I don’t know what to call him.

I could care less one way or the other about his wife. I care that Jeb can’t beat Hillary and thinks big government is the solution to the problem if he’s the one running the programs. I’ve dealt with that with George and am dealing with that now with Snyder in my state.

I do care as I am damn sick of idiots for first ladies like Obama’s wife. We damn sure do not need a Mexican holding her flag up speaking Spanish. Jeb could not and cannot get his own wife to ASSIMILATE. Screw him.
