Megyn Kelly is having a very good month.
And were not talking from a ratings perspective, either.
Comparing Kelly to her competition at 9:00 PM is now a pointless exercise. The May numbers show her beating CNNs taped programming (Bourdain, Rowe, etc.) and MSNBCs Rachel Maddow many nights by a 3-to-1 ratio or more. Its actually been that way for some time and Kellys dominance appears to only be getting stronger. All of that said, what this column will focus on is all the headlines/buzz the program is generating long after the 44-year-old Albany Law grad signs off at 10:00 PM ET.
The past month has seen Kelly first accomplish what many try and often fail to do on a daily basis in cable news: own a distinct voice on a controversial issue without hurting ones brand. Its a tough trick to pull off. By being distinctive, youre therefore being unique. By being unique, it invariably means youre in the minority and therefore swimming against common sentiment on a particular topic.
And thats the wire Kelly negotiated uponwithout ambiguitysupporting Pamela Gellers First Amendment right to free speech during the organizers patently-reckless Draw Mohammad contest on May 5th. Obviously, the patently-reckless characterization illustrates which camp I fell into on the matter (free speech is one thing, purposely provoking violence through it is quite another). But disagreement doesnt mean not listening to what the other side has to say, and Kelly taking on many of her on-air brethren at her own network (particularly Bill OReilly) while making her case (We dont compromise our values) with genuine passion and candor became Must-See-TV.

BOR is a spinning pinhead. Somebody should bump him from his perch. Like he is pinning for the fjords....
Kelly’s show is the best hour of opinion programming on the boob tube. She makes out BOR’s idiotic pronouncements and Hannity’s endless rants for what they are: two hours of Moron TV that sandwich her broadcast.
Chuck Todd was a total embarrassment this morning in his coverage of Dennis Hastert. Remember Dennis Hastert aggressively went to the pro-corruption side in 1998. It was his corruption that lost 2006 for the Republicans. (It was not the war as some would claim..as the anti-war votes are concentrated in hard Districts.)
Did Chuck Todd cover the truth about Hastert? No! Because Hastert spent more money than Bush wanted to spend and made NCLB and Medicare Part D bigger programs than Bush wanted, Hastert was handled by Chuck Todd as if Hastert were a Democrat...which might have been close to the truth.
"Kristian Denny Todd is a communications professional and co-founder of Maverick Strategies and Mail, which provides direct mail and consulting services for Democratic candidates and progressive causes. Kristian was the spokesperson for the successful U.S. Senate campaign of Senator Jim Webb."

Well said. I record her show and watch it every night. She is going to be Fox’s top rated show - it is just a matter of time.
I no longer watch either Hannity or the BOR for exactly the reasons given by your accurate characterization of them
Todd isn’t a homo?
Greta van Susteren was just the rough first draft of what became the Megyn Kelly show. An intelligent female, willing to go head to head with some occasionally very difficult and combative subjects, and control the conversation the whole time. Rarely has anybody talked over Megyn, and it is almost always to their own peril.
And Megyn does not confine her attacks to the liberal side of the spectrum, either. If she sees some social or fiscal “conservative” going off on the high side, she will call him (or her) on the errors and questionable judgment.
She gets respeck, man.
What I don’t like about her is that she frequently ends discussions with various repulsive liberals with what amounts to happy talk. So, was the aggressive questioning real or just an act?
Call me sexist but I have a hard time taking a blonde bimbo seriously.
What’s wrong with Hannity? He’s a dedicated conservative on most issues. I’m not saying he’s 100% but he’s definitely in the top 1% as far as media personalities go.
It’s an act. Never forget her skipping across the sound stage when Obama was announced the winner in 2012.
As far as I’m concerned Fox has given new meaning to the term “boob tube”.
they used the wrong Gellar in the title... Nevermind.
Hannity is the BonJovi of conservative media; who you’re stuck with instead of who you would really like to hear, and not an original thought in his head.

Hannity is OK. Politics are OK. Always on the correct side of issues. His problem is that he’s way too predictable and, for me, just boring. I’ve listened to him for years but right now he needs something to freshen up his show. My recommendation: Hannity and (Kirsten) Powers.
The difference between Hannity and Megyn Kelly is that with Megyn you just might gain some insight into the issue at hand. Not so with Hannity. To some extent that is due to Megyn’s choice of guests and her legal background. She’s just way better at what she does than either Hannity or O’Reilly.
I guess you and other Hannity critics are right about his entertainment quotient. But isn’t that sad that someone who is mostly right most of the time (my only problem with him is he seems to like Karl Marx Rove) gets written off because of his failure to entertain?
I’m not criticizing your opinion, just saying how criticism of Hannity makes me feel a sense of hopelessness for our cause. In that being Right is somehow just not good enough.
Maybe he ought to get himself one of those cheesey French tams, grow a goatee and go all Hollywood on us.
