(CNSNews.com) – Attorney General Loretta Lynch vowed on Tuesday to continue the Obama administration’s push for public schools to abandon their “zero tolerance” discipline policy, because critics claim it is aimed disproportionately at minority students and other “at risk” youth, including migrants and LGBT students.
“We are working with our partners in the private sector, and of course, the federal government, including Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, to end the school to prison pipeline that sends too many children on the well-worn path from the schoolhouse to the jailhouse,” Lynch said at the National Summit on Youth Violence Prevention in Crystal City, Va.
“And we are standing up and speaking out against so-called zero tolerance school discipline policies that bar the doors of opportunity for children who need support, leaving them stigmatized and marginalized, left out and left alone,” Lynch said.
In January 2014, the U.S. Department of Education issued a 37-page report explaining the administration’s opposition to “zero tolerance” policies in public schools, titled “Guiding Principles: A Resource Guide for Improving School Climate and Discipline.”

Let’s get our government back from the loonies on the left, and get rid of the Department of Education, and of course a list of other non Constitutionally specified departments operating under the Executive Branch, along with the regulatory burdens, and excessive costs involved due the millions of beholden bureaucrats that support those departments.
Just cutting out those departments, and bureaucracies would improve the ability of government to provide the Constitutionally specified military to protect our borders, and provide the national security they are supposed to.
Without the trumped regulations necessary to keep millions of bureaucrats occupied, manufacturing, agriculture, business could grow, expand, and hire not only the millions currently unemployed, but also the unseated bureaucrats who formerly manufactured the third World status our country has become.
NOT saying one hundred percent employment, but far better than what it is today.

Did they ever think maybe one reason the “youth” are “at risk” is because they haven’t had any discipline or accountability in their lives?
Zero Tolerance policies are moronic because they apply a blanket set of rules to everyone regardless of circumstances. To suggest that such policies unfairly target minorities is akin to suggesting that rat traps unfairly target rats over other cheese-stealing rodents.

That’s what I mean. Pressure from Obama Admin. via Dept. of Education to Oakland is what I believe happened there.
We have to get rid of the loonies on the left entirely, and cut out their tools, their pathways to inflict their damage. Those departments under the Executive I mentioned in my original post that are the tools, the pathways for the Left to inflict grave damage to our Constitutional Republic have all pretty much been instilled in our government by the Left over the years, other than EPA which was Nixon.
Those tools, pathways, and the Leftist personnel that man those bureaucracies all have to go.

For the first time, I agree with the obama administration, that the zero tolerance crap needs to go.
Zero tolerance should not be ended because it’s racist. It clearly isn’t.
Zero tolerance should be ended because it’s idiotic. It runs totally counter to common sense and a case-by-case review.
Zero tolerance punishes kids who defend themselves from bullies.
Zero tolerance suspends and expels kids for having midol and aspirin.
Zero tolerance suspends and expels kids for drawing guns, soldiers, war scenes and such.
Zero tolerance suspends and expels kids who bring a cake knife or a fruit paring knife to school.
Zero tolerance demands NON-THINKING by the school administrators. It is BRAIN DEAD IDIOCY.
That’s why common core should be dumped on the ash heap of worthless ideas. And burned so that nothing remains.
I’m with others here...I think their focus groups found out that the term “disproportionate discipline” for fact that higher percentages of minorities get in trouble than whites/Asians is not polling well, so they’ve changed the terminology to something that they figure will keep us off their backs, which they now call “zero tolerance”.
We hear about zero tolerance because a white kid says “gun” and winds up in reform school for 10 years. But the reason for the laws in the first place was so schools could get rid of black/Hispanic kids that brought real guns to school, and not be sued for “disproportionate discipline”. In other words, if there are 3 whites for every black at a particular school, then, to be “proportionate”, you need to expel 3 white kids with real guns for every black kid with a real gun.
Of course the problem was finding the 3 white kids...since white kids generally don’t bring guns to school. So in kicks “zero tolerance” which says “we don’t care what color you are, if you have a gun, you’re expelled”. Works great for lawsuits, but then lots of teachers don’t like it, because...it “disproportionately” winds up hurting minorities...so they apply it to kids drawing pictures of guns and know that the media will turn the IDIOT WHITE PARENTS that still send their kids to public schools against the policy. So now the Lynch Mob has stepped in to end it once and for all.
Bottom line: Kids that bring loaded guns to schools will no longer be automatically punished. If a school administrator looks at punishment of a black as a form of slavery (as black judges generally do now), then the kid gets off.
...and people wonder why I never sent my kids to those schools.
