Its always nice to see a leftist outfit finally fess up to a lost cause. The global warming crowd has clearly lost, and this Mother Jones article makes this clear.
The governments of the world have not implemented the Kyoto treaty of 1992 or its 1997 update. The whole thing lapsed on December 31, 2012. Its over. Kaput. Think of it as Al Gores presidential campaign. Clinton never submitted it to the Senate. Neither did Obama. It was allowed to die of old age.
In the latest article, we see that the far, far radicals of the global warming agenda had a metric of failure. If carbon dioxide reached a level of 350 parts per million, the end of the world would be in sight.
It is now at 400.
This 350 metric has been promoted for years by James Hansen. One of his acolytes is deep ecologist Bill McKibben, who has been sounding the alarm on the supposed ecological crisis ever since the 1980s. He wrote a book on ecology in 1989: The End of Nature. (Note: nature is still here.)
So, here we are, well beyond the McKibben Apocalypse. Better yet: its clearly headed much higher. The trend is clear: up, up, and away!
All is lost! The end is near!
When all is lost, the sensible response is to eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die. Anyway, maybe by 2076. After McKibben has gone to his deep ecological reward.
We are beyond the point of no return. Right? I mean, if the metric had any validity in the first place, only one conclusion is sensible: Head for the hills! Its cooler there.
So, will these people just go away now? Will they at least shut up? Not a chance. McKibben has created a cottage industry.

Laughed, I did.
I don’t know what fack means. I will stick with fake.

Zactly.
Their goal has never been about reducing fossil fuels (except as a tool of that evil capitalism) or selling carbon credits or reduction of CO2. Their goal has always been system change.
With the radical Left, the issue [global warming] is never the issue. The issue is ALWAYS the [socialist] revolution.
The World's Carbon Dioxide Levels Just Hit a Staggering New Milestone
Wed May 6, 2015
The monthly global average concentration of carbon dioxide just broke 400 parts per million for the first time since record-keeping of greenhouse gas levels began.
[Keep in mind that it was 1600 ppm in the Carbonaceous -- my note.]
The milestone, reached last month, was announced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Wednesday.
"It was only a matter of time that we would average 400 parts per million globally," said NOAA scientist Pieter Tans in a press release. "We first reported 400 ppm when all of our Arctic sites reached that value in the spring of 2012. In 2013 the record at NOAA's Mauna Loa Observatory first crossed the 400 ppm threshold. Reaching 400 parts per million as a global average is a significant milestone."
Crossing the 400 ppm threshold is equal parts disheartening and alarming. Less than a decade ago scientists and environmental activists, including Bill McKibben, launched a campaign to convince policy makers that global CO2 concentrations needed to be reduced to 350 ppm in order to avoid massive impacts from global warming. McKibben, who co-founded the group 350.org, explained the significance of that figure in a 2008 Mother Jones article entitled "The Most Important Number on Earth":
And so we're now in the land of tipping points. We know that we've passed some of themArctic sea ice is melting, and so is the permafrost that guards those carbon stores. But the logic of Hansen's paper was clear. Above 350, we are at constant risk of crossing other, even worse, thresholds, the ones that govern the reliability of monsoons, the availability of water from alpine glaciers, the acidification of the ocean, and, perhaps most spectacularly, the very level of the seas.

It's not clear if a vocal world citizenry will be enough to beat inertia and vested interest. If 350 emerges as the clear bar for success or failure, then the odds of the international community taking effective action increase, though the odds are still long. Still, these are the lines it is our turn to speak. To be human in 2008 is to rise in defense of the planet we have known and the civilization it has spawned.
We're now at 400.
CO2 represents only about 0.04% of the atmosphere (400 parts per million) so these dire predictions about rising CO2 levels amount to a few parts per million level changes. Of course the global warming cultists trumpet these dire increases, but the science ignorant public doesn’t recognize that these changes are barely measurable. It strains credibility to believe that our climate is being driven by molecular level changes in trace gases and that significant factors like solar output and ocean temperatures have no impact.
Also Venus has 90x the atmospheric pressure.
Equivalent to 3000ft below the ocean.
Somehow Global Warming Nazi’s miss that key point.
The warmists have not lost the war so long as they continue to get more government money and more regulations and laws. “Climate Change” is very much a part of the trade deal currently in the process of being foisted on the country by McConnell and Boehner. By summer of next year we are going to be so straitjacketed that the election will be totally irrelevant to anything.
Yep, they've ratcheted up the rhetoric since the November elections, probably because they know that the GOPe is easily cowed by the media.
400, and getting colder every day!
Here we are in the middle of May, in the middle of Kalifornia, and its 50 degrees out there at 12:30 PM.
.
Do you think we could do that again?
Just for Chicago.
It would be an improvement.
LOL. Perhaps awkward choice of words on my part, about Chicago buried under the ice......
Chicago is a basket case, as are so many cities, as we saw exposed in Baltimore as well.
What do all these cities have in common? Among others, these cities have been controlled by Democrats for generations.........

Global Warming on Free Republic
Doesn’t really sound like they are conceding. The segment of the article you have posted acknowledges that we have passed 350 ppm. But it doesn’t say the global warming is dead.
I’d like to see what evidence justifies the title of this thread.
Allthebest? What do you say?
