Marco Rubio Schools Jeb Bush on Foreign Policy
Daily Beast ^ | 5/13/15 | Tim Mak

Marco Rubio proved he can hang with the big hawks in his first foreign policy speech since he declared his run for president. The student has now become the teacher.

Sen. Marco Rubio, once viewed as a protege of presidential competitor Jeb Bush, schooled the former Florida governor Wednesday evening in the first national security address of his national campaign.

As compared to Jeb Bush, who fumbled and stumbled through his first major national security address, Marco Rubio delivered a master class on foreign policy that spoke to the soul of the right’s hawkish neoconservatives.

In New York City, before the Council of Foreign Relations and their foreign policy experts, Rubio showed himself to be a peer.

Yeah, yeah, I know Rubio is despised by many here. He isn't at the top of my list either (Walker holds that spot).

Nevertheless, he appears to be a candidate truly running for office--declared, talking policy/approach, and taking on the left and even some in the GOP.

So far, a serious candidate.

In that he or any other also-runner can help diminish or devastate Jeb Bush’s chances at getting the GOP nomination, that is a wonderfully good thing!

To the extent he or they help progress toward that result only benefits the rest of us conservatives (and America, too whether the sheep are willing to acknowledge that or not.)

He risked giving a senate seat to dems (though there is hardly any difference anymore) and I fear his tendency to measure principles against votes. I will watch and see what happens. Cruz is my man. Walker I would vote for, but he doesn’t do it for me.
Rubio, at this point I would hold my nose and pull the lever in the GE.
Let’s hope I see Cruz’ name on the ballot next year though.

I will never forget when I asked him straight to his face about the immigration mess. He looked me square in the eye and said nothing happens until the border is secure and there will be no amnesty of any kind.

He lied to me from his heart as evidenced by the Gang of 8. I cannot trust him on any issue, especially as a candidate for our highest office.

I don’t believe a word that comes out of Rubio’s mouth after Gang of 8. He’s a careerist climber who will say anything he thinks will get him elected. Rubio is also apparently Romney’s pick which I find interesting.

The stars do seem to be lining up for Rubio thanks to the GOPe pack the primaries strategy. It will be real tough for a genuine conservative like Cruz to build a core of support with so many fake conservatives running.

Wait for the debates. Cruz will stun them all. I believe Rubio will have something of a Perry moment because in a debate, he too will lose his memorized talking points, especially when they are obliterated.

Rubio has his good points, but that’s like saying Hannibal Lecter is a good conversationalist. Electing Rubio will have the same ending as dinner with Hannibal. Marco Rubio supports Amnesty, which will destroy America. Since I want America to survive, support for Amnesty is a fatal flaw in any candidate.

If Rubio is the nominee, I will not vote for him, even if that means Hillary will be president. If America is going to die, I want a clear enemy in the White House, rather than someone who the GOP will have more trouble opposing in our country’s final days.

Rubio doesn’t memorize his “talking points.” He has shown, as has Cruz, the ability to ad lib and talk to virtually any issue without pause. Walker stumbles sometimes and Jeb has to stick to cue cards.

I like Rubio and believe he can win. Would I prefer Cruz over Rubio? Yes. But, while I really like Cruz he needs to show me the ability to win the general election and that will be his toughest challenge.

Rubio's toughest challenge will be the hole he put himself in with some on the right over Amnesty and immigration. That said, unlike many posters here, I don't believe we can "ship them all back home" and there is a reasonableness factor that has to be applied to those who are already here. And all that gets done after the border is secure. I think you'll hear both Rubio and Cruz utter the same approach.

Consistency from Rubio and Cruz in their approaches and beliefs will be interesting to watch.

Ted Cruz is my guy, but, I must say: Rubio was very impressive on O’Reilly last night. The loud-mouth, know-it-all, blowhard O’Reilly kept interrupting him and trying to put words in his mouth.... even trying to trap him. Rubio remained cool and collected and continued to smile during O’Reilly’s mini-rants. When O’Reilly would shut up and let him speak, Rubio would then lay out some very good Foreign Policy initiatives.

I’ve got a feeling we could see the last two standing for the GOP Nomination being Marco Rubio and someone else.

Why would anyone want to give more knives to a backstabber?

Rubio scheming with Schumer against the citzens was enough for me.

Never voting for any Cheap Labor Express candidate.

(even if Hillary thanks me/s)

Considering the number of candidates running, Cruz may not have much of an opportunity to show what he can do during the debates.

Rubio memorized and strategized the issue. That in itself made it a talking point since he was not sincere while appearing to be so.

I would hope that that pubbies don’t get into a
circular firing squad but instead direct ALL
their shots at the demorat target, this will
dilute the return fire while plastering the
target with more hits.

Rubio was impressive at his launch however
I have yet to hear him on constitutional issues
such as I have heard Cruz speak about many times.
