it sounds as if there was a malfunction of some sort doesnt it.
I heard on a news report the Amtrak was at full throttle speed, which doesn’t jive with 20 minutes and 3 miles apart.
Can anyone confirm the Amtrak’s speed at derailment?

Then again the current information is that the train was traveling over 100 mph on a 50 mph curve. Also something about the driver trying to brake, but not succeeding? More info needed for sure.

He was doing 106 before he applied the brakes. He got down to 102 in the 3 seconds before the train crashed. Trains don’t instantly stop and he waited far too late to apply the brakes.

Trains arent like cars....a 50 mph curve is a fifty mile per hour curve...as there are no Sports Trains......that could safely take such curves with a skilled driver at the wheel.....
what if its discovered that the engineer was texting his BOYFRIEND when he lost control...so to speak??
Gotnews.com has independently identified the engineer at the center of the Amtrak crash that has killed at least seven.
Brandon Bostian is the 32-year-old gay man who lawyered up after a deadly derailment in Philadelphia. The train was reportedly going twice the speed limit.
ABC 6 previously reported that Brandon Boshan, not Brandon Bostian, was to blame for the deadly crash. (They have since taken down the link.)
Bostian is a gay activist who previously worked at Target as a cashier before joining Amtrak, according to his LinkedIn.

That would be incorrect. New Haven was the end of the electrification done by the New Haven RR back in 1914 that extended to Hell Gate in NY.
From Wash DC to New Haven CT it is 11 or 12 kv 25 hz power. The remainder not electrified by New Haven was mostly done by The Standard Railroad of the World (Pennsylvania RR).
In the 1990's Amtrak spent the money to electrify the remainder of the NE Corridor from New Haven to Boston using a 25kv, 60hz supply.

There was a guest on Fox at about 3 explaining how the system worked. A later question affirmed the engineer would usually Use what amounted to “auto pilot” Technology was sensitive enough to adjust speed of train to automatically adjust to terrain.
