Christianity is in sharp decline in America, according to new research from the Pew Research Center, making for a significantly less Christian country than that of just seven years ago.
The number of Christians dropped by almost 8 percentage points in seven years to 71 percent, and the trend holds across race, gender, education, and geographic dimensions, though Christianity still dominates American religious identity at 70 percent, USA Today said.
"It's remarkably widespread," Alan Cooperman, director of religion research for the Pew Research Center, said, according to The Washington Post. "The country is becoming less religious as a whole, and it's happening across the board."
The research also found that the percentage of people not affiliated with a religion has increased from 16 percent to about 23 percent over that period. A number of key trends have emerged from the research, the Post said.
For one, millennials have become less affiliated with religion as they have aged over the last decade. In 2007, 25 percent did not affiliate with a religion. In the current survey, it's 34 percent.
"Some have asked, 'Might they become more religiously affiliated as they get older?' There's nothing in this data to suggest that's what's happening," said Greg Smith, associate director of research at the Pew Research Center, according to the Post.
A second trend indicates that there are more religiously unaffiliated Americans than Catholics or mainline Protestants. The unaffiliated amount to 25 percent, compared to 21 percent for Catholics and 15 percent for Protestants.
Specifically, the numbers of Catholics and Protestants have both shrunk between 3 and 5 percentage points since 2007, while the evangelical share of the population is down by 1 point since that time...

When the Bible speaks of Babylon, it is actually talking about “Babylon”! The United States is not mentioned anywhere in scriptures except in reference to “all the nations”. We are headed for a big “knock down” on the world stage. Whatever God’s plan for that is unknown at this time...
Very possible. I hope for the rapture before that day...but I could very well be wrong so I am preparing either way...
Very good point!
As a Catholic, I only worry about my own sins and holiness. I leave God to sort them out.
Pelosi is excommunicated.
What will happen in America if the Rapture happens during the working hours, say from one to four Eastern time? America will cease to exist as a lawful society. Darwinism will reign, with gangs taking control of large segments of cities and Islamic murderers free to attack in any way they see fit.
Those left behind at the Rapture will be in the most grievous dangers. And with all the small children gone, the distress factor will be overwhelming to communications and transportation systems. World agitators will suddenly have nothing restraining them from their mischiefs.
The chaos in America, Canada, and Great Britain will end their reign as world powers. The power void will be filled very quickly. Anyone with a workable plan to control food production and distribution while swinging a strong hand to put down riots and gangs, etc. will be welcomed and any thing this leader wants people to do to stay alive will be gladly accepted, like a buy and sell mark, and banning certain religious practices.
If within hours of the Rapture the Islamic murderers believe they are free to attack Israel, they will make their move and the Psalm 83 War will cause Israel to use neutron nukes to stop the rushing hordes of murderers. This will trigger a move by this 'world Peace maker to make a Peace contract with Israel for seven years, during which time it is promised that Israel can rebuild the Temple and clean up the mass of dead and weaponry at it's borders.
Ancient Babylon and Mystery Babylon are not the same.
However, I agree that neither of them represent the United States.
Though America is headed down the paths of Babylon and ancient Rome.
At a rapid clip.
I believe Ezekiel 38 will be mistaken for Armageddon.
And then the “instead of christ”, the Antichrist will be ushered in by *the* False Prophet who has two horns like a lamb, seemingly “christian”, but speaks like a dragon (the Devil).
But we’re pretty close in what we believe. ;)
Oh yes, I am very concerned we’re seeing the last days of America.
I don’t like it. Never thought I would see it happen. But the sheer idiocy on the loose is quite disturbing. As well as the fake money supply which can only end in a spectacularly-frightening global crash.
Maybe this is how the Antichrist gets a world currency.
I don’t know. But it seems to fit.
The decline is coming from mainline and Catholic churches. The more conservative (demanding) churches are actually growing.
I see nothing in the Bible where Jesus came to "create a concept of Christianity." On the contrary, he said to Peter, "You are Peter, and upon this Rock I build my Church; and the gates of hell will never prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18)
And I wouldn't group Catholicism with the mainline "less demanding" churches. A Catholic that truly lives the teachings of the Church is in the most demanding Church there is.
If you are left on earth after the rapture, does it really even matter what happens then?
No one will be in Heaven from Earth except they come through The Lamb, Son of The Living God. A clue to the tremendous variety and number is who is listed at the marriage feast, since the Bride is already accounted for.
kerping
I’ve heard it said that ‘during the Church Age we come to Jesus by faith in God’s Promises; after the Rapture people will come to Jesus out of fear for what is coming on the Earth.’
The Islamic Mahdi supposedly has ‘jesus’ telling people that Mahdi is the God and he, jesus, was not a savior, just a herald and teacher.
“But were pretty close in what we believe.” If there’s time on the way UP, I’ll shake your hand and say howdy.
Oh yes. There’s no doubt they are and will continue to be, deceived.
But there are some who are taught that it is a “faith of Abraham”, incredibly. Just part of the many Last Days deceptions. But a big part.
It will all be good!
:)
