A special House panel investigating the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, has uncovered tens of thousands of new documents, but is still facing "obstacles" from the Obama administration, an interim report issued Monday said.
An "Interim Progress Update" was released Monday revealing the investigation "has uncovered new witnesses, new documents, new facts and will result in the most detailed and complete accounting of what happened in Benghazi."
And it reported that the panel in June will interview former Secretary of State Leon Panetta, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey and retired General Carter Ham, who was in charge of U.S. troops in Libya at the time of the attack.

That sure has become self-evident by now.
Shudder! Can we outsource that job?
Thanks
In 1972-1974, it was a Democrat controlled Congress going after Nixon, now it is a Republican controlled Congress, evidently wanting to do nothing of the sort to an opposition party President, who demonstrably has broken laws and violated his oath of office numerous times.
Boehner's resistance to rock the boat has been known for years, which is why there was finally a challenge to his Speakership this January.
I am waiting for Gowdy to take the bull by the horns. There is nothing left to lose at this point--except our country.
Quite frankly, If Cankles is reluctant to show up, she needs to be dragged in to testify, under oath. Let her dare to take the Fifth, and then go back on the campaign trail.
Apart from Gowdy, where is the GOP led charge against Hillary's obvious lawbreaking regarding her emails and her conflicts of interest at the State Dept.? All I hear are crickets.
It cannot be more obvious that the GOP wants none of this, and they think they can just continue to throw out red meat to right wingers every so often, to keep us voting for them.
Those days are over.
Yes, democrats are liars.
Democrats know how to pretend to be honest people, but they’re not. It’s a game - part of the manipulation. Hillary is a scammer. So is her husband. They hang with criminals because that’s where they fit.
Anything else?
“Hey Howdy, “then put on your big boy pants” and charge the President with contempt of Congress
or shut your big yapper!” - 2A
Perfect!
I sure don’t disagree with you on Boehner, and that means the HOR is rendered useless against wrenching hard evidence in the way of anything meaningful from Hillary Clinton.
Gowdy has been crystal clear about the narrow scope of this committee, an investigation which is dreaded by Obama as well as Hillary, with problems at State compounded by the Executive branch freeze martialed against him to delay progress and eventually outright block the retrieval of relevant documentary evidence, maliciously hide witnesses, silence the survivors, and politically destroy the morale of the Republicans on the committee, who are cut off from making progress, not only by the target itself, but also the democrats on the committee itself.
So Gowdy can only hope to get Hillary on the record and line up her testimony with the limited evidence he has on hand, in hopes of a perjury count. Knowing that her lawyers will naturally want to delay and obstruct as long as possible, Gowdy can try to make lemonade from lemons. Let her delay. Let her push this back closer to fall, when it costs her more, when an error in testimony costs her campaign some points.
As for the emails Gowdy said that another committee may want to take on that investigation, because his interest in the emails is confined by the scope of his committee to only those emails which would be related to Benghazi.
It was Gowdy who exposed the private email addresses of Hillary and led to the discovery of the secret server. Her live has been made a living hell ever since. Now the Clinton Foundation is suspect and thought the real reason for the destruction of her private emails.
Gowdy can pull one thread at a time, take the abuse from the Neanderthals criticizing him, and possibly in time unravel the whole Clinton operation.
Trey rocks.
The lofo gas bags making a habit of blowing off airhead noises on subjects of which they have proven to be so obviously and totally uninformed, makes it a waste of time to respond.
It is best to avoid getting sucked in by the pretend interest in Trey Gowdy. We can all see who the whiners are. The obsessive contributions are zero on content, but high on hot air and hysteria. It’s actually a hoot.
Correct on all accounts
Good discussion, RitaOK—thanks.
I agree, 82. Thx. :)
I agree, 82. Thx. :)
What you fail to mention is that Gowdy KNEW about the email server
for 6 months BEFORE the story broke. And it was not Gowdy who broke
the story. It was the NY Times.
And as soon as the story broke Gowdy started his grandstanding because
he knew he had been sitting on this email scandal for 6 months.
Get your facts straight.
Put your gas can on your head again?
You’re always wrong, and so anxious to be heard being wrong.
Get your facts straight. Gowdy knew about Hillary’s E-mail server
6 months before the story broke.
ONLY when the story broke did he start pounding his chest.
He was silent as a mouse for 6 months.
I suggest you WAKE UP!
Nobody has been indicted for ANYTHING over the last % years of scandal after scandal of this administration and the Republicans continue to ACT in complicity with the Democrats.
It's Kabuki theater for the masses and you believe that Gowdy is GOING to INDICT Hillary?
I'll believe that when it happens.
Is Charlie Brown finally going to kick the football?
Remember Hillary's FBI files? They pale in comparison to Obunghole's NSA dirt that he has on every politician, judge, etc. The weasel politicians don't want their dirt exposed, so all the "investigations" regarding the IRS, gun running, Benghazi, etc; will amount to zip, nada, zilch, nothing.
I usually wouldn't agree with anything Maxine Waters had to say, but I think she was correct when she said, "The president has put in place an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That's going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual in ways that it's never been done before."
Welcome to the Obunghole Matrix.
Rinse and repeat, at 114.
Your post #118 tells it like it is. Good stuff!
