Good move. Everybody knows they were dumb questions and Cruz comes out and shows compassion for Halperin.
Technically a politically astute move but it would have been nice to see him just ignore the apology altogether and refuse any further interviews with him..
“In no way was I asking Senator Cruz to prove he was an authentic Latino”
The Hades you weren’t pal.
Cruz showed a lot of class in the interview, and in how he’s handled the so-called apology.
Choke on it Halperin.
Cruz proves how naive he is in political life.
Clearly, Cruz is not ready for the big leagues.
This was an opportunity to identify liberal hypocrisy and contrast this with their treatment of Obama.
But, instead, like most GOP, Cruz grabs his ankles and asks for more.
I’m with Cruz on this one. As Sun Tzu says, when your enemy is making a mistake get out of the way.
Great move, now it opens the door for Cruz to demand the left vet their candidates without it being sour grapes.
and here is Cruz’s statement, which I think is very presidential. No matter who we are along the party divide, we need a presidents who respects us as all Americans.

Mark Halperin is a serious and fair-minded journalist. Today he kindly issued an apology for some silly questions he asked me in an interview. The apology was unnecessary — no offense was taken, nor, I believe, intended — but is certainly appreciated.
I’m proud of my Cuban heritage, my father’s journey from oppression and prison in Cuba to freedom in America, and also my Irish-Italian heritage on my mother’s side. Both are integral parts of who I am today.
The 2016 Republican field is shaping up to be the most diverse in history, and I look forward to a robust and substantive conversation about how we work together to turn around our current stagnation and expand opportunity for everyone to achieve the American Dream.”
The reason senator Cruz had the freedom to be gracious in the apology is because he looked so good in the interview. Most other candidates would be looking for excuses later. Senator Cruz needed no excuse.

Cruz took the high road.
Nicely done.
Ted Cruz is a gracious guy. Mark Halperin is a racist twerp.
Nicely played by Cruz. Political junkies will recognize his use of “silly” as cutting. Halperin like most journalists wants to be perceived as deep and heavy, so this will be painful to him. Meanwhile Joe Blow on the street just sees Cruz as being laid back. What Cruz is showing is that shrewdness works. You don’t have to be cranked to 11 all the time.
Reminds me of MD Governor Hogan talking at a press conference about how the mayor of Baltimore "finally" asked for the National Guard ...
Thats how you stick the knife in and twist it, while being completely classy.
Cruz is a MENSCH.
Haperin is a SCHMUGGEGEH.
