Sabotage convictions against 3 activists in Y-12 break-in overturned

NASHVILLE — An appeals court has overturned the sabotage convictions of an 85-year-old nun and two fellow peace activists who broke into a facility storing much of this country's bomb-grade uranium and painted slogans and splashed blood on the walls.

I’d be more impressed if these three deranged individuals broke into mosques and hung banners and beat on the walls of the mosques urging the inmates there to “beat their swords into ploughshares.” Maybe that could see how that would turn out.

This portion of the Bible tells us how we'll know the End Times have arrived. The lion will lie down with the lamb instead of eating the lamb, and men will beat their swords into plowshares (I prefer the American spelling).

I have no doubt that when the End Times arrive, God will adjust the digestion of the lion so it can eat grass like the sheep, instead of eating the sheep. Also, I have no doubt that war will then cease and we will no longer need weapons.

However, these aren't the End Times. Lions are still eating gazelles, if not sheep. And there are still those who threaten us, meaning we need weapons. For these times, we need to heed the prophet Joel: "Proclaim a war. Order all the soldiers to report and march. Beat your pruning hooks into spears and your plowshares into swords."
