High court on verge of destroying the family
WND ^ | 5/3/15 | Dr. James Dobson

Posted on 05/04/2015 4:30:50 PM PDT by 9thLife

(Editor’s note: Dr. Dobson has prepared this letter for the constituents of his ministry, Family Talk. It is being shared here before being widely disseminated.)

Dear Friends,

May I urge you to read this letter carefully? It has been written with a fervent prayer that you will recognize the urgency it conveys. It deals with a decision that is about to be announced by the U.S. Supreme Court, dealing with the definition of marriage. In late June or early July, the justices will reveal their decision to either affirm the definition of marriage as being exclusively between one man and one woman, or it will redefine this institution to include same-sex unions. If marriage is to be reconfigured in the law, which court-watchers predict is almost certain, every dimension of the culture will be adversely affected. It will be one of the most momentous rulings in U.S. history, tantamount to the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. As we know, that terrible ruling 42 years ago divided the nation irreparably and has resulted in the deaths of 58 million babies.

I do not recall a time when the institutions of marriage and the family have faced such peril, or when the forces arrayed against them were more formidable or determined. Barring a miracle, the family that has existed since antiquity will likely crumble, presaging the fall of Western civilization itself. This is a time for concerted prayer, divine wisdom and greater courage than we have ever been called upon to exercise.

>>Yeah, the Farrah remark was a distraction, which I attempted to rectify in the following post, but of course expecting anyone to read that before flaming might have been setting the bar too high.<<

You might notice my post just bypassed the comment about Farrah to make a post about the subject at hand.

When you get a minute it might be interesting to see what you think about the actual content of my post.

Or not — your choice.

God never loses.

But He does weep.

It looks like you're basically saying what Dr. Dobson said.

Am I missing something?

I think we both are just missing something. Just an Interwebz we can’t see each other thing.

Let’s re-level.

Dobson is right. If SCOTUS says gay “marriage” is a Right, then every variation of “marriage” is also a Right. Marriage goes from being a fundamental unit to 2:N people of arbitrary relationship. The progeny (physical, adopted, or other) are irrelevant and Heaven help them.

I’ve often said the courts, with “sodomite mirage”, are merely defacing the corpse of what they murdered with “no-fault” divorce. The state is ascending it’s own ziggurat of self perceived deity from whence it will be weighed in the balance and found wanting.

While I mourn for what is happening to the family unit, I have to wonder if any court or government can actually destroy something God intended or if it is just a sign of the degeneration into a cesspool that He has warned us will come as we move towards His return to set things right. Folks who take EBT cards and who do other such things that relieve them of personal responsibility, always blame others and play themselves as victims, but it is still their personal choices that take them down those roads.

I understand that the government has historically given breaks to encourage family units, but I still think that those who were/are prone to want to be a real family and take on those responsibilities (and joys) will do so with or without the courts and the government.

Just food for thought - we keep blaming the government and others for where we are today and I say it is the fault of the People who have made personal decisions to either wholeheartedly go along or to just not resist. No matter how the rest go, we still get to make the important personal decisions no matter what goes on around us.

When things are rightly ordered, man is steward of God's gifts and civil law enables him to do so.

When things are rightly ordered, man is steward of God's gifts and civil law enables him to do so.

And I would posit that when a man is rightly ordered, he will be a steward of God's will/gifts despite any civil "laws" that would discourage him. Men witness to God's goodness and the most effective witnesses do not rely on laws of men to enable them.

It would be sweet if our laws were in accordance with God's Law, but He trumps all for those who choose to follow Him instead of inherently fallible and wicked men.

He has spoken - the Earth will degenerate into a cesspool - not all men will will cooperate even though they live in the same pool.

A certain Jim Robinson also supported “the Huckster”.

Put him on your suspect list if you like.

Not in my book. He wouldn't be the first to be misled.

Notwithstanding differing opinion on that, it isn't every day men of his stature and experience sound an alarm like this.

God never loses. But He does weep.

I haven't picked up where he often does. Putting man in the flesh is the only occurence that I know of. I know Jesus weeped, but God almighty knows he is right and all things will come to pass as he stated.
