GARLAND, Texas — Two armed men who opened fire on a security officer outside of a provocative contest for cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad have been killed, authorities in the Dallas suburb of Garland said Sunday night.
The City of Garland said in a statement posted on its Facebook page Sunday night that two men drove up to the Curtis Culwell Center and began shooting at a security officer.
Garland Police Department officers engaged the gunmen, who were both shot and killed, the statement said.
The New York-based American Freedom Defense Initiative had been hosting a contest at the center that would award $10,000 for the best cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
In January, 12 people were killed by gunmen in an attack against the Paris office of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which had lampooned Islam and other religions and used depictions of Muhammad.

I'm not sure what weapons charges would apply- were they using long guns or handguns? Long guns are probably legal, as long as they're not full auto. Seems like I heard that they were using long guns.

It would have been nice to water board them for a few weeks to find out what they know, who they know and what other plans they may have had.
But it is better that they are dead than if they had killed others.

Amen to that! This country will live to rue the day we allowed ANY of these Muslim Cretins into our country. They are not here for any other reason than to try and subjugate us to their “false religion.” Personally I call it something else, but in deference to this wonderful site, I will keep it to myself! I whole lot rather have Catholic Hispanics than this “effluent” from the Middle East. There is absolutely nothing that you can call a “peaceful muslim.”

These guys were likely Muslim amateur terrorist. Possible domestics.
Their first post two weeks prior was just, look at how their insult our great prophet, will they ever learn. So they sounded moderate. Almost just like Obama would sound. Then they posted inference to an actual attack, and became extremist muslims, about 18 minutes prior to the attack. Oh they probably saw that same nasty video the Benghazi attackers saw. Isnt that right, Hillary. Oh well. End result is two dead Muslim followers. At this point, what difference does it make ?
Had this been in a wimpy “liberal” (they’re actually illiberal) city, they’d have gotten away in killing people there and probably elsewhere too.
