It was not a switchblade. It was a spring assisted blade.

The States’ Attorney stated correctly, that that is a legal knife in Maryland. However, she blatantly omitted the fact that spring assisted knives are illegal in the city of Baltimore.

She has no case for illegal arrest or false imprisonment and she has to know that, or she is completely inept.

Can you explain to me the difference? I once had a switchblade, with a button that released the spring-loaded blade and propelled it to the open position, where it was locked open. So what is a spring assisted blade?

Sounds like they are the same thing to me.
What is the difference?

A switchblade (also known as an automatic knife, pushbutton knife, ejector knife, switch, Sprenger,[1] Springer,[2][3] flick knife, or flick blade) is a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened automatically by a spring when a button, lever, or switch on the handle or bolster is activated. Most switchblade designs incorporate a locking blade, in which the blade is locked against closure when the spring extends the blade to the fully opened position. The blade is unlocked by manually operating a mechanism that unlocks the blade and allows it to be folded and locked in the closed position.

Sounds like you know your knives and your knife laws.

Maybe she is completely inept. If she is making a phony illegal arrest charge on the officer, then it seems she should be charged with illegal arrest on her false trumped up charge.

I have a feeling she was pressured into these charges by her mentor/donor who is the family’s attorney or her husband on the Council for political reasons. If true, this will come back to haunt them when the state can’t convict on these charges.

If his knife was illegal (spring-loaded or Stiletto?), the State Attorney lied on that count alone.

He was a thug and criminal - I won't fault him for being outside a law that I consider unconstitutional....

“spring assisted knives are illegal in the city of Baltimore.”

Will you please provide a link for this statement? I haven’t been able to find one.
