"It was not a switchblade. It was a spring assisted blade."

Can you explain to me the difference? I once had a switchblade, with a button that released the spring-loaded blade and propelled it to the open position, where it was locked open. So what is a spring assisted blade?

The knife will look like a normal manual knife, ie thumb stud on blade to open, but once past the resistance of the ball detant, there is a kicker spring( usually leaf) that will “assist “ the blade in opening.
