How Hillary Clinton Is Showing Solidarity for Same-Sex Couples on Big Supreme Court Day

Clinton recently shifted her position on the issue of same-sex marriage slightly.

Last summer, in a testy interview with NPR's Terry Gross, Clinton said while she supports same-sex marriage, the issue "had always been a matter left to the states." In a statement released via a spokeswoman earlier this month, Clinton now said she hopes it would become a "constitutional right."

“Hillary Clinton supports marriage equality and hopes the Supreme Court will come down on the side of same-sex couples being guaranteed that constitutional right,” Hillary for America spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod said in a statement to ABC News.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Misguided Clinton evidently doesn’t want low-information voters, voters who have never been taught the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, to know the following. The states have never delegated to the Supreme Court, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to define marriage.

So if Clinton wants the feds to have the power to define marriage then she needs to do the following. Clinton needs to work with state and federal lawmakers to propose a marriage amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify the amendment then the corrupt feds will have the constitutional authority that they need to define marriage for vote-winning purposes and Clinton will be a hero.
