Why would two same-sex marriage proponents even host an event for Ted Cruz?
The Washington Post's The Fix ^ | April 27, 2015 | Philip Bump

Posted on 04/27/2015 10:32:34 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

You've likely heard about what happened already. Two New York City entrepreneurs, leaders in the city's gay business community, hosted a small event for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) in their Central Park South penthouse. The story got to the Times, and the gay community flipped out, given Cruz's aggressive and consistent hostility to the idea of same-sex marriage. There were calls for a boycott of the hotel and other properties the pair owned; each of them -- first Ian Reisner and then Mati Weiderpass -- apologized for hosting the tea party senator.

Reisner's apology explains the choice in self-deprecating (and intentionally distancing) terms. "I was ignorant, naive and much too quick in accepting a request to co-host a dinner with Cruz at my home," he wrote, "without taking the time to completely understand all of his positions on gay rights."

Naive? Ignorant? You don't have to pay very close attention to national politics to have an understanding of Cruz's position on the political spectrum or the most common views of conservatives when it comes to same-sex marriage. Reisner writes that he spent "the past 24 hours reviewing videos of Cruz' statements on gay marriage" which made him "shocked and angry." Of course, the Times' report on the event, which was online on Thursday, mentions the toplines of that opposition, eliminating much of the need for a day's worth of research. It also says that Reisner "said he did not agree with the senator on social issues" -- again suggesting that the study session was superfluous....

The lgbt agenda has a glass jaw. They scream so loudly because like little dogs they are in a battle they can not win without getting the bigger dogs to stand down. The key to defeating the left is by simply not backing down. Let them show their worst face forward for all to see.

“Libertarian” has a pretty nasty stigma to it. But like everything there are various degrees to it that vary based on individual, and there are points of intersection with Conservatism.

Ted Cruz is a Fiscal Conservative (which is an element that both mainline Conservatism and Libertarianism share) and very pro-Israel. So it’s no surprise that two strongly pro-Israel Jewish businessmen who happen to be gay find themselves in some alignment with him and decide to host him on that basis.

Liberals can’t imagine that a gay person has any political agenda and views aside from sexually oriented ones.

To my reading, their apologies are so far over the top in expressing regret and self-punishment (I don’t care if it is Ted Cruz, I’d pull all of my hair out if I had to watch 24 hours of ANY politician talking about an issue) that they qualifiy as sarcastic parody/satire.

Apparently Silicon Valley libertarians are pretty excited about Ted.

The thing that comes to mind is when Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin were questioning Jesus and when He spoke the truth,

the screamed and rent their garments.

The answer is quite simple: the Left is really about control, and any sheep that starts to think and act for itself needs to be dragged in front of the other sheep and violently put down. To encourage the other sheep to be good little lambs and not think/act for themselves.

Thats how the old Soviet Commissars did it. Why should we expect that modern Progressives would be any different? Except for the tools they use.

So are some pro-Israel gays, former Ron Paul, Santorum and Huckabee supporters, musicians, Puerto Ricans, Mormons, Orthodox Jews, Mexican-Americans, atheists and left-handed librarians. Does that mean that Ted Cruz is all those things?

Why would two same-sex marriage proponents even host an event for Ted Cruz?

Maybe because not everything they do revolves around their demand for acceptance of where they stick their gentials.

The thought-nazis on the left can be very persuasive.

Dershowitz has indicated that Cruz the student was not a social conservative though he was a libertarian.

There was also an occasion when the council was questioning St. Paul, and he got them to fighting each other over the doctrine of resurrection.

Even with the apology of Reisner that gaystapo will not stop. The sword must run him under as an example to the rest who dare step out of line from the gaystapo dogma.

Don’t see what Reagan’s personal journey has to do with Cruz. I just see yet another libertarian offering vaporware to evangelicals.
