You've likely heard about what happened already. Two New York City entrepreneurs, leaders in the city's gay business community, hosted a small event for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) in their Central Park South penthouse. The story got to the Times, and the gay community flipped out, given Cruz's aggressive and consistent hostility to the idea of same-sex marriage. There were calls for a boycott of the hotel and other properties the pair owned; each of them -- first Ian Reisner and then Mati Weiderpass -- apologized for hosting the tea party senator.
Reisner's apology explains the choice in self-deprecating (and intentionally distancing) terms. "I was ignorant, naive and much too quick in accepting a request to co-host a dinner with Cruz at my home," he wrote, "without taking the time to completely understand all of his positions on gay rights."
Naive? Ignorant? You don't have to pay very close attention to national politics to have an understanding of Cruz's position on the political spectrum or the most common views of conservatives when it comes to same-sex marriage. Reisner writes that he spent "the past 24 hours reviewing videos of Cruz' statements on gay marriage" which made him "shocked and angry." Of course, the Times' report on the event, which was online on Thursday, mentions the toplines of that opposition, eliminating much of the need for a day's worth of research. It also says that Reisner "said he did not agree with the senator on social issues" -- again suggesting that the study session was superfluous....

Brilliant move by Ted Cruz.
He went and proved he isn’t a monster and the left went nuts and proved they are.
WHO...CARES!
What gets me are these long strings of commenters in liberal fora that simply assume that mere association with a conservative is a reprehensible sin? Why doesn’t the left allow people to be individuals and associate and talk with whomever they want? The Liberals in this country are thought police totalitarians. Cruz was right to call them Liberal Fascists.
Ted is loved by supporters of Israel. The two homosexuals he visited are Jewish and are supporters of Israel.
Ted met with them about Israel. Ted is a big hit in the Jewish community because of his support for Israel. And he did not hesitate to meet with these two homosexuals, thereby showing he can represent all Americans.
Ted Cruz is a 100% CLASS ACT.
Uh, because they had open minds regardless of the Senators opinion. Their buddies managed to slam them shut though. Guess somebody forgot PC Highway is a one way road. We will NOT tolerate the intolerant.
A) He is a libertarian.
B) He is exceedingly well spoken.
There is a reason liberaltarianism is so popular on the left coast. Personally, I think Cruz is trying to use evangelicals because they have the numbers, unlike the libertarians. The evangelicals would get zip, and the libertarians would have their guy in office.
Fax me some of whatever you’re smoking. Seriously.
Mr. Reisner knows the brutality of the gaystapo. He knows they will not stop until his business is destroyed. The gaystapo is not at all interested in equality. They want power and superiority. Unlike Al Sharpton who goes away when he is paid off the gaystapo won’t stop until you are destitute.
Well, if they allowed that, people might learn that their enemy isn't really an enemy at all. In fact, they might not only be be decent people, they just might be right.
"Ideas are more dangerous than guns. We don't let people have guns; why should we let them have ideas?"
-Joseph Stalin
I know my view is very much in the minority, but I’m sticking to it.
Apparently the Washington Post thinks these two gay guys should not care about any other issue.
These guys have already apologized and said they made a terrible mistake. crazy
It’s “in the minority” because it is demonstrably wrong. Senator Cruz’s father is a hard shell Baptist preacher and Ted was brought up in the church. What would he have to do to show you that he was “more evangelical?” If being for the constitution and against statism and tyranny is “Libertarianism” then I guess we’re all libertarians here. But I don’t think that’s what it means.
It’s like certain people have been saying for some time “You don’t care about gay marriage? You’ll be made to care.”
The Fix. Oh that’s right, that’s the place where the so called Journalist’s Text during the National Anthem.
exactly right
and when President Hillary starts opening internment camps for tens of millions of Christians to be forcibly brainwashed to support abortion, I met they throw in homosexuality too.
Cruz is a libertarian like I am an NBA star...
