Well they are free to them. like when a company hands out free samples, it is free to us but costs them something in hopes for a new future paying customer
problem is government’s customers never pay

Does the free breakfast adhere to Moochies mandates?

Parents have abdicated their role to the government, Marxism par excellence.

Jaclynne Medina, Starlight Elementary School fifth-grade teacher said the program has some shortcomings. Space and budget only allows for cold menu items, such as cereal and packaged snacks, she said.

Why don't they send the kids home with the pre-packaged breakfast and let their parents feed it to them at home the next morning before they get on the bus?

Or here’s a real wacky, out there idea. Why don’t parents FEED their own kids.
But lacking that, your idea makes sense.

” Why don’t parents FEED their own kids.””

Good question-—that’s what food stamps are for.

They should be given a choice.

If they get food stamps then no free food at school.

If they want free food at school-—no food stamps.

.

I drove a cab as a second job for a while. Food stamps are for drugs.

Whoops!

I forgot to say the reason why they were gushing about the need for public BOARDING schools was to combat truancy and PLAYING HOOKY.

How’s that for a liberal solution, huh..?

To prevent them from being late or skipping school, SIMPLY MAKE THEM **LIVE** AT SCHOOL.

Uninsured people? Okay, the solution is simply to FORCE them to buy insurance.

Ya know what..?

Actually ANY time you encounter a problem, just USE FORCE. How’s that for being innovative, huh?

Everything solved...!

Saw this more than a decade ago, when I worked as a middle school teacher after retiring from the military.

I quickly learned that the most important moments of the day occurred at 8:45, 11:30 and 3:30, which coincided with the three meals offered under the school nutrition program. As teachers, were told that everyone had to go through the cafeteria line for breakfast, and no student enrolled in the after school program could be held past final bell for instruction, discipline or any other purpose. The reason? Much of the federal funding a district receives is tied to participation in the school lunch program. In my school, every kid qualified, so it was paramount that we maximized participation every day, so funding wasn’t affected.

Academically, the school was a disaster; most of my seventh graders couldn’t do three column addition or subtraction. Functions involving factions were beyond comprehension, and there wasn’t a single student who could handle pre-algebra, the “normal” math course for that grade level.

In 21st Century America, Johnny and Suzy can’t read, write a simple sentence or handle basic math, but they are well fed.

Low income = ILLEGAL MEXICAN ALIENS. Pajaro is identical to any small Mexican village. There has been zero effort to assimilate to America.

In many NYC high schools I see insulated bags containing breakfast for students being brought up to the classrooms. So the students' first period class consists of chowing down on the food and occasionally looking up at the lesson the teacher labored to create. No one is really listening except for the kids whose moms fed them at home. Then, in other schools, you have students bringing in fast-food breakfasts, too busy stuffing their mouths with hamburgers or croissants to wield a pen to take notes and too lazy and slovenly to convey the trash generated thereof to a nearby trash can. So you have a whole rodent and roach population, well fed by these slobs, running around the classrooms.

What happened to parents feeding their own kids? Eating breakfast at home is becoming a rare event. Seeing kids bring lunches from home is a rare event as well. I hardly EVER see a home-made lunch in school cafeterias. Either the kids eat the breaded-everything reheated frozen slop served in the cafeteria or they sneak in fast food from nearby ff joints. Really sad, and cannot lead to healthy kids.

Some parents have been objecting to the school breakfasts and say they are insulted at the notion that they don’t feed their kids. The reason schools are pushing this is because the federal government (we the taxpayers) reward schools with money for having kids in the program. In some CA schools, 81% of the kids get breakfast at school. The feds want it to be 100%. They want our children to be wards of the state.

Because mommy, her boyfriend, or older siblings will eat the food sent home for the next day’s breakfast and the child will still come to school hungry.
