A nine-ship Iranian convoy believed to be laden with weapons bound for rebels in Yemen turned around Thursday after being followed by U.S. warships stationed in the area to prevent arms shipments, multiple sources in the Pentagon told Fox News.
The sources said the nine-ship convoy is south of Salalah, Oman, and now headed northeast in the Arabian Sea in the direction of home. The ships, which include seven freighters and two frigates, had sailed southwest along the coast of Yemen heading in the direction of Aden and the entrance to the Red Sea. They appeared to drop anchor in the north Arabian Sea, after the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the USS Normandy and a half-dozen other American ships arrived in the Arabian Sea on Monday, and U.S. officials said that they could intercept the convoy.

I asked “Why should we assume he has done anything of benefit to us now?” and you told me.
Yes, trust First Citizen Obama.
Elementary... or is that not a condescending enough reply to you?
“So choose to believe the facts or continue to hate Obama.”
Wow. This is the horseclinton liberals like to excrete.
“I was not being condescending to you.”
Yes, you were and are.
“I see you want to try to flame me.”
Nope, but why believe me?
I’ve already wasted too much time conversing with you.
You should look into how third world ports work.
A gangplank and a hundred coolies is all that’s needed.
It’s not even that complicated. Most intercoastal freighters, as these are, can unload themselves. They can unlock a boom and swing a load over the side while at sea. Fairly heavy stuff could be dropped into a barge or landing craft of most any sort and left to find its own way ashore. There’s no mention anyplace of what kind of traffic might be moving inshore? And the Persians are a waskily bunch-—they might simply be dropping buoyant packages in the water for pickup by PIRATES? Hardly any different than dope smugglers?
Hey Bammy we need to negotiate your early retirement....
Go live in Hawaii and stay there.
why are we getting involved in the Yemeni Civil War? Sunnis are fighting Shi’ites
Yes we should be helping both sides. (secretly blow up whoever is winning at the moment)
The issue is so complicated with cross currents and cross interests and foreign entanglements in the ME and Africa that if we somehow lost a ship or had it clandestinely attacked, would we even know who did it?
I’d prefer the USA pull out of the ME and start putting our country back together, paying down debt, as opposed to a another risky potential setup that could lead to WW3.
The first step is removing the corruption and fraud in our government that leads to bad decisions like inviting immigrants from ME, Africa and elsewhere to get food stamps and SSI, and fraud by Medicare providers and no competition for big Pharma for starters.
Well, there’s an old proverb about arguing with fools, so I’ll stop arguing with one now.
Have a good day.
If it were just crates of rifles and ammo, I agree with you. But I think these guys were intending to drop off much heavier equipment and we’ll never know for sure, but I don’t think they got that close to shore. The TR’s planes were monitoring their activities. I doubt they could pull any funny business. I don’t think anything was dropped off. Anyways, the original story said that they had ported and at least that was what I was commenting on. There is no way they actually went into port and unloaded in less than a day. I think some overzealous reporter spotted some other commercial freighter and reported it was the Iranians. That’s just a guess on my part of course, but it’s the only thing that makes sense.
I think the main channel of the BAM is closer to 300 meters than 300 feet. It's been a few years since I went through it.
The thing to remember about that site is it is only showing what AIS (Automatic Identification System) is reporting. Any ship that doesn't want to be tracked here need only turn off its AIS.
I checked and you are correct; I was conflating meters and feet, 310m to be precise.
Yet it was easy enough to cross in numbers during the late Pleistocene that people from the southern Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa were ethnically the same people, as projectile points and other artifacts have recently confirmed. Hence the description in Genesis 2:13 that the second river 'Gihon encompassed the whole Kingdom of Ethiopia' was factually correct (recent archaeology and hunter-gatherer ethnography have both suggested "Eden" was then under what is now the Persian Gulf). Sea levels have risen about 120m since then.
EXCELLENT, because your “go back to hating Obama” POS post was preaching to your own choir anyway.
Thanks for personally directing your tripe to me and allowing me to so eloquently out a leftist freak.
Cheers!
#2> Agreed. We feel for their decoy movements while smaller ships offloaded the weapons at other ports.
Again the US Navy is useless when the chips are down. So is the Secy of the Navy and his crew of useless morons.
Exactly. They aren’t afraid of our warships because they know the ‘commander’ in chief is really the clown in chief who’s afraid of his own shadow and would never issue any orders to the military to attack.
I also see there is crazy talk of building a suspension bridge across it, though why anyone would want to waste billions of dollars to connect two hellholes is beyond me.
LOL, you apparently lack imagination. Think of the mischief to be derived with Somalis and Boko Haram cruising through Aden on their way to Mecca! Think of the arms sales to the Saudis. Think of a final battle over a stupid rock in the Kaaba!
Now that's payback. Diversity is our strength!
Ain't it fun? (not)
