Arkansas black leaders are urging fellow minorities to take up arms, join gun clubs and help curb what they perceive as unjustified violence from police – the latest of many such call-to-arms among members of the black community.
“Law enforcement has to understand, you cannot do what you please when you see us,” said Crittenden County NAACP chief, Shabaka Afrika, in a news conference reported by WTOC.
Crittenden County Justice Commission founder Hubert Bass said locals ought to become better educated, especially about their constitutional rights, and should join gun clubs.
“We’re going to study law,” he said. “What our rights are. We also want to be looking at our constitutional rights in carrying weapons. All police encounters need to be recorded. It’s unfortunate it has to be that way. But it has to be that way.”
Afrika emphasized the NAACP was “not against law enforcement. We need law enforcement. But it has to be accountable,” he said, WTOC reported.

When he warns cops they cannot "do as you please," where's the same message to his constituency? When the cops stop you, you can't run or fight. Being a citizen carries responsibilities as well as rights. Funny you never hear any talk about that from the NAACP.

Perhaps initially there would be a spike in black shooting deaths, but as those unfortunates died off, there possibly could be a new found respect due to not knowing who is carrying and who is not.
It would be a huge leap forward in race relations if this NAACP spokesman had urged ALL people to take up arms, rather than just blacks. But clearly he is a racist or he wouldn’t be a member of that organization or worse, changed his name to something as laughable as Shabaka Afrika. Shazam!

You race baiters need to understand that when a policeman tells you to stop and put your hands up, that is NOT an invitation to attack the police officer and go for his gun and try to kill him! You race baiters need to understand that the police are the authority NOT you! You race baiters need to understand that when a police officer VIOLATES his office by doing something illegal, it WILL most likely be caught on camera, and IF you have done nothing wrong, then you have a case against that cop- you NEED to do things in a LEGAL manner and not resort to the violent crimes you have been resorting to
Stop and comply- simple! Hopefully you can get it through your heads that practically ALL of the tragedies that occur today CAN BE PREVENTED IF you simply OBEY the law and stop thinking you are above the law because you are black!

I didn’t get the impression the NAACP wanted these people to arm themselves to make sure Obama leaves office. Their stated goal is to stop police violence.

Yep, got a bunny out in the overgrown backyard grass right now. Been sitting there for several hours. He’s safe though as the neighbor and I agreed to stop irritating the backyard critters with our Crosman pump-ups after the neighbor killed one of my low-E, argon filled, tinted double-pane sunroom windows.
Yeah, all 123 instances of a cop shooting and killing a black citizen. uh huh
