You know, the Ten Commandments, it says you cant commit adultery; it says you need to honor your father and mother. If someone didnt honor their parents or commit adultery, would you serve them? This question was posed by CNN reporter Gary Tuchman to Georgia florist Melissa Jeffcoat, who had previously said shed refuse to service a homosexual commitment ceremony. When she answered affirmatively and was pressed on why (supposedly) shed serve adulterers and those dishonoring their parents but not homosexuals, she replied, Its just a different kind of sin to me. I just dont believe in it.
Tuchman surely thinks himself clever, and he did get the sound bite he wanted. He closed his segment with, In these flower shops theyre happy to do business with you, but not so much if you tell them youre gay. And that was mild compared to Raw Storys Arturo Garcia, who accused Jeffcoat of hypocrisy. Its all very effective rhetorically, too, but also reflective of the illogical thinking characterizing our modern debates.

This sin comparison is ridiculous. Adulterers and other sinners don’t wear a sign on them, so a merchant can maintain neutrality. Not so in the case of SSM, which is in your face and forces you to either accept or reject.
These libs think themselves so smart, but they cannot see the difference between merely serving s sinner, which we all are, and being forced to actively PARTICIPATE in the sin, which a gay wedding is. Serving anyone who walks into the shop by making an arrangement for a sick person or creating a corsage for a dance is being non-judgmental, while producing the flowers for a gay wedding is actively taking sides, which is exactly what these people want.
If people are going to make a stand against gay marriage, they better know what theyre going to say in instances like this. Its very simple, really I dont want to be seen as condoning something that goes against my beliefs. By providing my services, thats exactly what would happen.
Hmmm...
What percentage of the shares of MSM corporations is now owned by muslims?
MSM asking the wrong question, they should have asked if a man who is married comes in requesting flowers for his mistress that he is going to ask to run away with him and leave his Wife and Kids fatherless, would you sell him flowers.
Everytime I see this type of question, it convinces me that they are anti-christian and all they want to do is make fun of their beliefs.
The left hasn’t realized that by serving the adulterer is being non-judgmental, which is what they demand from us.
I wish she would have had the time to answer this way:
Have you ever screwed a woman better than me?
The point here is that the philanderer doesn’t tell you all about the incriminating details at the point of sale.
That and most people aren’t proud of their sins. Most people don’t go into confession asking for a priest’s blessing to continue to steal, cheat on their wives, or beat their kids.
The press still doesn’t get the difference between counter service and attending a ceremony.
If someone ordered flowers for a service where they were going to behead their parents, the florist probably would not go.
I been posting this for years now, in fact just yesterday I posted HERE at FR:
SOL :“ I will be honest, I haven't seen so-cons make really good verbal public (like on TV) cases on these LGBT issues, and Republicans seem happy to just abandon the issue if they think they can. Typical arguments are God says its wrong or I don't believe in it
And here's a perfect example WORD for WORD she repeats what I posted to the CNN reporter. I don't want to blame her because she didn't go out looking for an interview, but our side is completely unprepared for this fight, well slaughter.
The answer should have been that she cant morally justify being part of a ritual/cerebration that she sees as sin.
Would a black cross-maker who sells crosses to Christians have to provide them to a KKK rally?(he tells her that's what its for)
Would she have to supply flowers for a wedding of a known bigamist who tells her he's already married?
Thats the correct comparision.
Oops meant to say Memories Pizza. :(
“Hi, I am not honoring my mother and father, can I buy some roses?”
“Hello, I want to buy a dozen for my mistress, please”
um, no, I don’t think so.
“Y, we having a celebration ceremony for adultery, you in or what?”
A robber could come in and ask for a cake shaped like a safe, but wants it to celebrate the fact that he will never steal again. (Maybe it was a big take last time, LOL.) The baker might even bake that one, because the robber shows that he knows it is wrong, and he doesn't want to do it anymore.
The gay persons getting married are pretty clearly saying, "Not only do we not care about this sin, we're celebrating it, and want to continue celebrating it for as long as we live." No contrition, plus promises of future sinning for many years to come, plus CELEBRATING the sin rather than feeling shame for it. Of the three scenarios, it seems like the worst of all.
What the reporter isn’t understanding is, the florist wasn’t forced to participate in or promote adultery or whatever else.
If you don’t know, you aren’t taking part in the sin, but if you know that you are party to his sin, you are sinning yourself
And the question is how many Christian owned shops did those reporters go into before the ended up at the one shop where the owner was dumb enough to give them the response they were trolling for?
Like you said, it’s a real easy answer: “I’ll gladly serve homosexuals. However I will decline to participate in an event that violates my religious beliefs.”
If asked an adultery-related question the answer is just as simple “Yes, if a guy comes in here and orders valentines roses for both his wife and his girlfriend, I’m going to decline that as well.”
The best solution is actually to state the following: “Because of the threat to my business and livelihood by Progressive bullies I’ll provide goods and services to same sex weddings. I won’t like it, but I won’t also risk my reputation by providing those goods and services at a quality or standard below what I’d provide to anyone else. However, because of my beliefs I cannot in good faith keep any money from doing that, so all proceeds from same sex weddings will be donated to (insert name of Christian/Conservative organizations that Progressives really, really hate)
