The dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism said that a four-month investigation of a now-discredited Rolling Stone article about an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia found no evidence that magazine staffers committed clearly fireable offenses.
Rolling Stone retracted the November article A Rape on Campus by Sabrina Rubin Erdely late Sunday after the publication of a 13,000-word Columbia review requested by the magazine.
At an hour-long news conference on Monday, the schools dean, Steve Coll, explained the reports findings. When asked by reporters why no one was fired in the wake of the investigation, Mr. Coll said he didnt feel it was Columbias place to make such a recommendation because the report didnt find examples of dishonesty in the newsroom.
We arent the DAs office here. We arent a special prosecutor, Mr. Coll said. We didn't find evidence of the kind of dishonesty, invention of facts, lying to colleagues, (and) plagiarism that in our experience you would regard as grounds for automatic firing or severe sanctions.

WTF???
Not to worry.
Liable suit will even things up.
they must have been trying to read the arabic edition
Media lies daily, the only problem here is that they got caught.
Don’t tell me, let me guess..........Holder made the final decision?

Good, she's gonna need a job to pay the Fraternity and the young men she Slandered & Libeled.
Ruining people’s lives to push a false narrative is a-okay in liberal journalism
The Fraternity is going to own Rolling Stone.
That shows how low the bar is at Rolling Stone.
Ow, my eyes. I assumed it was some young fool full of bile who didn't know any better. This one knows it lied, yikes. It reminds me of Gollum. It's deeply crazy.
Of course not. The fireable offense would be to contradict an editor who had his facts wrong and you went to tell him/her that the piece they wrote was incorrect.
Also,
Isn’t it the hallmark of a reporting job to check and verify sources???
Like maybe, they might have found that there was no party on the data specified in the article, and that the alleged chief perpetrator, “Drew”, did not exist???
Wait til they start writing checks, then watch the firing
Isnt it the hallmark of a reporting job to check and verify sources???
Huh? since when? Not since I have been alive and I am 55, all that matters is White Men and Republicans are to blame for everything. got it.
If you don't fire anybody, then there were no "fireable errors."
In the inevitable libel lawsuit, not firing anyone makes Rolling Stone look even more culpable. Get ready to pony up the dough, Rolling Stone.
Like hell they didn’t find anything.
I think Rolling Stone is sending a loud and clear message that they will do it again if they can get away with it.
Exactly. And that loony UVA Prez Teresa A. Sullivan should be sued also. That crazy woman punished totally innocent people!
