Wisconsin, Kentucky governors make friendly wager: Cheese, sausage & root beer vs. bourbon

MADISON (WITI) — Governors Scott Walker and Steve Beshear offered up a friendly wager on Friday, April 3rd in anticipation of the NCAA Final Four men’s basketball game on Saturday.

Governor Walker bet an assortment of Wisconsin cheese and sausage, and root beer, that the Wisconsin Badgers will win, while Governor Beshear wagered Kentucky bourbon for a University of Kentucky Wildcats victory.

In a news release, Gov. Walker said the following:

“The Badgers have had an incredible season thus far and have represented Wisconsin admirably both on and off the court. As we face the Kentucky Wildcats in the Final Four for the second year in a row, this game certainly won’t be a ‘slam dunk,’ but under the leadership of Coach Ryan and the talent and teamwork of the players, the Badgers have what it takes to go all the way. This Saturday, I look forward to joining fans across the state and nation in cheering our team on to victory. On Wisconsin!”

The Badgers tip off against the Wildcats this Saturday, April 4, at 7:49 p.m. at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

President Obama, an avid hoops fan, picked Kentucky as the eventual championship team in his annual predictions bracket.

If Obama picked Kentucky, then Kentucky is doomed to lose

Just calling it as I see it. Check out McDonald’s All-American Team. I would say since you already state you hate both of the top two teams you are one with an axe to grind.

Axe to grind? Nah, I’ve gotten over it. Good luck tomorrow against Wisconsin.

It’s rumored that our state is not only populated with beer swillers, but brandy slammers, as well. A few Web sites even reported that Wisconsin is responsible for 90 percent of the world’s brandy consumption, so we decided to go straight to the source: Korbel, the top brandy maker in the United States.

“Wisconsin is our number one state,” says Margie Healy, director of public relations for the California-based Korbel. “We export 385,000 cases a year, and 139,000 go directly to Wisconsin. That’s one-third of our total production.”

I wonder how big is St. Bernard ownership in Wisconsin? ;-)

I picked Kentucky to win but I’m glad Governor Walker won his bet.

Now his challenge, collect his bourbon before Joe Biden intercepts it.

Never doubted our boys for a minute. And they’re just getting started! It’s going to be so much fun to have this young team around for a few more years!

Go, Bucky! On, Wisconsin!

Hopefully, Gov Walker gets Makers Mark.

The 2 teams in the championship game are from states with R governors. The only thing tipping me toward WI last night was Gov. Walker (R) v. Beshear.(D). (no, I’m not petty at all!)

Here's a short list of a few Wisconsin craft brewers. If anyone gets near the upper midwest, you may be able to find some excellent Wisconsin beer for sale.

Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 20-Year-Old.

And I do not deny that Wisconsin earned it.
