51 votes: Republican Mark Kirk signals he’ll vote for Loretta Lynch as AG, ensuring confirmation

Did anyone think one of the Senate’s most reliable RINOs, who’s up for reelection next year not just in a very blue state but in Barack Obama’s home state, and who supported the Schumer/Rubio Gang of Eight amnesty bill, was going to go to the mat to block Obama’s pick for AG to protest executive amnesty?

Conservative Republicans won’t stick up for religious liberty even in red states for fear of being called bigots. The odds of a moderate Republican opposing the first black woman Attorney General of the United States in a Democratic stronghold were precisely zero.

“I am confident from my conversation with Loretta Lynch that she will be a valuable partner in confronting the gang violence that is robbing families of their children every day in Chicago,” Kirk, a senator from Illinois, said in a statement.

All 44 Senate Democrats and two independents are expected to vote for Lynch, who would be the first African-American woman to head the Justice Department…

Prior to Thursday, four Republicans indicated they would vote for Lynch’s nomination, and with Kirk, there potentially would be a majority in the Senate to confirm her.

Kirk has an excuse: A no vote here could hurt him next year in his Senate race in Illinois. What’s the excuse for Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham, and Orrin Hatch, all three of whom come from red states and none of whom is up in 2016? (Susan Collins is the other Republican supporting Lynch.) I realize that Graham and Flake are amnesty shills, but even they should be capable of rebuking Obama for seizing Congress’s power over immigration for himself.

It is no revelation but it is a disgusting that this prick, and all like him, have weighed in the balance....what is best for himself, and what is best for the country, ..... and he finds himself more important than what is best for this country. God, country, family has no meaning for these kinds of pricks. It is self. Only self. So, the self-imposed delusion is that he is more important than what is best for the country. They are all like this, I think , but it is the people and the constitution which will be savaged, as he goes to the Georgetown parties and dines on fine wine and rock crab claws and boiled shrimp, none of which he payed a dime to purchase from the sweat of his brow. He elbowed his way into the club, and he ain’t giving it up without selling his soul. In his mind, that is a small price to pay. The constitution is lost. The country is lost. Ourl children’s future is lost. Deny yourself for the sake of the country. The Bastille is coming into view, i fear.

I think you are pushing the right button. Months ago I thought Issa was on the side of people who wanted all the crap from/about Obama exposed. Now I read that someone has found that Issa was in a cabal wanting to actually change the Constitution and/or It’s meaning as to qualification for POTUSA to allow persons such as Obama to be eligible. He never was in good faith seeking to show Obama was a fraud.

I’m done with the GOP. I’ll vote for conservatives, but I will no longer just vote straight GOP. They’re no better than the dems now.

Menendez might not.

Absolutely true.

He has a ready-made excuse for recusing himself, in that he is under indictment by the very office Lynch wants to head up.

Plus it would certainly give him a shiver of pleasure to leave Obama, Holder and Lynch one vote short.

Holder, Jarett, Obama, Lerner, and lots of other domestic enemies are betting that a RIGHT WING CONTROLLED DOJ won't frog march them into Federal Prison for their crimes.

Ordinarily that would be a safe bet, but if Cruz or Walker are in the mix, all bets are off.

This *itch should have never made it out of committee, which see did with the backing of Hatch, Flake, and Graham in a 12-8 vote last month.

But yes, it’s not like Holder’s replacement was gonna be not terrible, under any circumstances.

I think Kirk got a promise that for the 2016 Democratic opponent against him....it’ll be a 2nd tier person (anyone but Duckworth).

Totally disagree. This *itch will give a fresh face and an air of respectability. The GOP shouldn’t do ANYTHING to help, assust, promote, agree with with or anything with this bastard in the White House. HE controls Holder as he will control this *itch.

Holder is approaching becoming the second longest serving Attorney General in U.S. history. If Mitch McConnell doesn’t schedule a confirmation vote, Holder will pass Janet Reno for second place.

“These should be my closing days,” Holder joked in a speech. “Given the Senate’s delays in scheduling Loretta Lynch’s nomination for a vote, it’s almost as if the Republicans in Congress have discovered a new fondness for me. Where was all this affection the last six years?”

Repeat after me: “Go ahead. Vote. It won’t make a diff until after CW-II.

Then, say “The GOP is dead, dead, dead.”

There.

It hurts, but it’s da twuth.

He wants to go off and make more money ala Jackson or Shatpeton. Besides, in the hierarchy of special people, he only has ONE card - being black. This *itch has two - black and a woman.

Do we need an AG AT ALL?? Probably not. The district AG does the grunt work. The US AG just makes it easier for the Marxist Muslim Kenyan to impliment policy.
