The Week Mike Pence’s 2016 Dreams Crumbled
Politico ^ | April 1, 2015 | Adam Wren

With the black marble of the Indiana House of Representatives behind him, Gov. Mike Pence in January trumpeted a laundry list of accomplishments achieved in the first half of his first term: Two balanced budgets. A falling unemployment rate. More than 100,00 new jobs created. It seemed the predicate for a potential 2016 run. Basking in the glow of the moment, Pence dropped his customary aw-shucks Hoosier persona and let himself boast: “Tonight, there are 49 other governors across this country who wish they could be me!” Maybe then. Not anymore.

every poll now says over 60% of Americans support gay marriage.

The obvious fallacy in your argument is that almost no one on the side of reason & tradition, has even bothered to challenge the absurd assumptions being made by the mass media in covering the issue. Too many simply voice moral outrage, but do not take the time to patiently analyze just how absurd the notion is. The debate is not being joined so far as most Americans have been exposed to it.

We need to educate our spokesmen not to simply answer slogans with slogans, or ex cathedra pronouncements; but to take the time, with every opportunity, to refocus others on the actual function of marriage, throughout history--and it has nothing to do with anything the Left is suggesting in their efforts to rationalize what you label as "gay marriage." And if this educational campaign has the added benefit of restoring a little of the esteem that marriage was once held in--well, so much the better.

Pence should have been prepared for all reactions, with responses already in hand. Instead, he seemed completely adrift. This does not auger well for his political future.

Notice how the media is concentrating on Pence and ignoring Cruz even though Cruz is not back tracking on his position on this....

Cruz knows the The left are like Jackals that only got for the weak prey....

The wimpy but acceptable answer would have been to claim that the law seeks a compromise that discriminates the least against either side of the gay marriage issue. That would have been the claim the middle answer, weak, but defendable and not a flip flop.

The strong answer? See Ted Cruz response. That is why we need a candidate like Ted Cruz who dose not fall for a media gotcha trap.
