Ted Cruz is being called a Republican Obama, but he has not exactly gotten an Obama-like reception from the mainstream media.
Liberal commentators have, predictably, beclowned themselves in the wake of Cruzs presidential announcement. Chris Matthews (the guy who felt a thrill going up his leg when Barack Obama spoke during the 2008 campaign) compared Cruz to Sen. Joe McCarthy, even showing pictures of McCarthy and Cruz in the same pose. Ebony magazine Senior Editor Jamilah Lemieux told MSNBC that Cruz likes country music because nothing says lets go kill some Muslims like country music. On Morning Joe, Donny Deutsch said, I think hes scary, I think hes dangerous, I think hes slimy.
What the left does not seem to understand is that all of these attacks help Cruz. As one Cruz associate told me, America hates Washington. Washington hates Cruz. Not bad.
Its not just the liberal commentariat that is attacking Cruz. Here is how the New York Times reported Cruzs announcement on its front page: Mr. Cruzs tenure in Washington has been marked by accusations of demagogy. He sometimes deploys the soaring diction of a preacher while staking out uncompromising and rigid conservative positions, often playing the role of political flamethrower. Thats not an editorial; thats a news story.
Contrast that with how the Times reported then-Sen. Obamas presidential announcement in 2007. Obama, the Times declared, was launching a journey rich with historic possibilities and symbolism . . . Speaking smoothly and comfortably, Mr. Obama offered a generational call to arms, portraying his campaign less as a candidacy and more as a movement. You can almost hear the strains of Hail to the Chief in the background.

Sorry, forgot the link to the article. Here it is:
..their scared, real scared.
LOL. Sure got them all riled up and their panties in a bunch. Go Ted!
"Republicans lost the White House in 2008
and again in 2012, because Sen. John McCain and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney
failed to ignite conservative passions."
I can actually invision Ted Cruz as President. I supported Gingrich last time, but in all honesty, I didn’t have much hope of it happening. This time is different. Is anyone else getting a different impression this time around?
political flamethrower
close but no cigar
what happened to ..FIREBRAND?
perhaps theyre preparing to place these terms in rotation so as not to bore people to death with them even before the conventions!!
Hail to the Chief? You can almost hear the "boom-chicka-wah-wah" of a 70s porn movie. Now try to detach Chris Matthews and David Brooks from Obama's legs.

I expect, very soon, these news pundits will be saying that the election of Ted Cruz to anything but “DOG CATCHER” will bring the demise of the United States, as a viable country. Instead of the “THRILL GOING UP AND DOWN THEIR LEGS”, their legs will shrink into a pair of stubs, and their arms will atrophy. Because Ted Cruz will announce that ALL LIBERALS, SOCIALISTS and COMMUNISTS will be thrown into concentration camps, for re-education. Brown Shirts will be roaming the streets creating all kinds of mayhem.
America hates Washington. Washington hates Cruz. Ego I like Cruz.
Cruz/Rubio would make libs have apoplectic seizures.
I still think TX will vote for Jebbie over Cruz, but I hope I am badly misjudging the situation.
“I still think TX will vote for Jebbie over Cruz, but I hope I am badly misjudging the situation.”
No, Texas will go for Cruz. Jeb isn’t well known in Texas since he was governor in Florida, not Texas. Cruz is Texas.
“I still think TX will vote for Jebbie over Cruz, but I hope I am badly misjudging the situation.”
I don’t think so. Everyone I have talked to down here in the middle of the Promised Land says they have had enough Bushes for a lifetime.
Nope. Texas is tired of da Bushes. The only reason his kid won an election here is because he basically ran unopposed. Texans know Ctuz very well.
