Study: Climate change does not cause extreme winters
Watts Up With That? ^ | March 27, 2015 | By ANTHONY WATTS

Posted on 03/28/2015 1:21:06 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

This comes from ETH Zurich:

Cold snaps like the ones that hit the eastern United States in the past winters are not a consequence of climate change. Scientists at ETH Zurich and the California Institute of Technology have shown that global warming actually tends to reduce temperature variability.

Repeated cold snaps led to temperatures far below freezing across the eastern United States in the past two winters. Parts of the Niagara Falls froze, and ice floes formed on Lake Michigan. Such low temperatures had become rare in recent years. Pictures of icy, snow-covered cities made their way around the world, raising the question of whether climate change could be responsible for these extreme events.

Scientists at ETH Zurich and at the California Institute of Technology, led by Tapio Schneider, professor of climate dynamics at ETH Zurich, have come to a different conclusion. They used climate simulations and theoretical arguments to show that in most places, the range of temperature fluctuations will decrease as the climate warms. So not only will cold snaps become rarer simply because the climate is warming. Additionally, their frequency will be reduced because fluctuations about the warming mean temperature also become smaller, the scientists wrote in the latest issue of the Journal of Climate. . .

Climate change is caused by politicinas who hold the purse strings over the heads of scientists and thier research

So, cold weather is NOT caused by warm weather?

So, if libs are committed to stopping climate change, if true to their beliefs, they must not stop until every day is the same temperature, humidity, sunshine level and so on.

of course, then they’ll shriek about man-made Global Climate Sameness.

Just thinking logically, I would assume that if the “climate change” included, say a new ice age, then it might contribute to extreme winters. But what the hell do I know. I’m just an accountant.

Since Global Warming couldn’t be related to the historically cold weather, the cold weather didn’t happen. You just imagined that. As soon as scientific adjustments are made to the data, you will see that it was actually warmer than it has been. (Where’s my federal grant?)

Every year the climate changes and it gets cold. Scientists are baffled.

... global warming actually tends to reduce temperature variability.

Okay, so ... does that mean that the extreme temperatures we've seen mean the globe isn't warming?
Expected answer: Of course not, we have Climate Change silly, *anything* out of the ordinary is "proof".

I remember when Global Warming implied more energy in the atmosphere and thus more storms, rain, drought, extreme heat *and* cold.
Not only do they try to have it both ways, they want to have it every which way.
Sorry pals, that's not science. Might as well blame it on magic.

Climate change absolutely, irrefutably does ‘cause’ such weather!

Human effects on the environment should be called by an appropriate, sensible, title. This is an example of the idiocy of letting politicians dictate language.

They had "extreme weather" in Tornado Alley this year. First tornado on March 25, when normally they've dozens.

"After some of the quietest three months of a U.S. tornado season in 60 years..."

A typical March sees about 120 twisters.

So, I guess since it was "extremely calm", then it was "extreme weather" aka climate change aka global warming... LOL! :)

Absolutely not. Only a retard or political ideologue would think warmer temperatures cause cold temperatures. It can only get so hot at the equator. There is a negative feedback loop. That is why it rains around noon a lot down in the tropics. Water evaporation due to heat causes clouds which causes rain. All that can happen in a warming planet earth is a larger tropical area. So temperate areas shrink in size and the polar jet streams stay confined to the poles. In a cooling planet, tropical areas shrink and polar jet streams can move south as the cold vortexes expand. Total solar energy in the tropics drives the whole energy transport system that is steered by a revolving planet.

That really is what the IPCC is saying.
We just, according to the warmunists, had the “warmest year EVER”.

"Climate change is caused by politicinas who hold the purse strings over the heads of scientists and thier research"

I agree.

And please bear in mind that if the Senate was still controlled uniquely by state lawmakers as the Founding States had intended, then federal Senators should be killing House appropriations bills (1.7.1) which are funding PC global warming research, the House not able to justify such bills under Congress’s constitutional, Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

But after state lawmakers ratified the 17th Amendment, foolishly giving up the voices of state lawmakers in Congress, corrupt senators started to work in cahoots with corrupt House members to pass constitutionally indefensible appropriations bills, Obamacare a glaring example.

And since low-information voters go home and watch football after voting for their favorite corrupt senators, voters are clueless to the idea that their senators are helping the House to rob their wallets.

The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.
