There is nothing quite like the petty despotism of the public school system. A boy from McMinnville, Tennessee, was suspended after coming to Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School with a haircut deemed inappropriate by the principal. It was a "high and tight" military-style haircut that the boy had requested so that he would look more like his step-brother, an active-duty soldier.
The principal did not budge, leaving the boy's mother no choice but to shave his head so that he could come back to school.

A Katy Perry wig and some make-up and they would have taken him right back.
Where’s his father?
But a rainbow colored 10” spiked Mohawk would have been just fine.
If I never heard about ‘Tennessee Justice’, I wouldn’t complain...
...just so long as it actually happens.
The categorical imperative of public school ethics is absolute contempt for children.
Outlandish behavior!!
Tennessee? my immediate “impression” was that this must have occurred in California,,
A suspension?
Mom and Dad need to sue...and then do their very best to get him out of the Government Indoctrination center system!
There’s GOT to be more to this story.
This was not a state rule, not a county rule, not a district rule...
This was a “principal’s” rule...Plain and simple...Therefor, not a rule at all...
She should be reprimanded or fired...
Names.
Name the principal, the school administrator, each member of the school board, and when they’re up for re-election.
And publish the fact that they’re America-hating Leftists.
Naw - other than a liberal principal’s contempt for our military.
Ironically enough, the school is named for a military hero.
On what grounds was the haircut inappropriate? Back when I was in school, boys had to be careful not to wear their hair too long.
> A Katy Perry wig and some make-up and they would have taken him right back.
With a bulletpoint bra...
The one bright point is that completely shaved heads is also a popular military style (for men, anyway).
I’m pretty sure I had exactly that haircut when I was in elementary school.
>>But a rainbow colored 10 spiked Mohawk would have been just fine.
No. Reason did not report this (you need to go to the USAToday story referenced by Reason to find it), the principal’s justification for this was a written policy against “mohawk haircuts or other extreme cuts.”
I don’t think this is a mohawk or extreme, but Reason is showing how out of touch with the truth “journalism” has become. That was a point that should have been in their article.
Home school your kids!
Typical government liberal school that hates America’s military and promotes LGBT in kids.
The first time I saw this story, there was a photo of the boy and his haircut...It was no “mohawk”...It was very clean-cut about 1/2 inch long with the area around the ears cut tight...
As said, it was a military cut..
Very appropriate haircut...
Do they suspend for purple hair? for rainbow hair?
