School named after war hero forces child to shave off military-style haircut
FoxNews.com ^ | March 26, 2015 | Todd Starnes

Adam Stinnett looks up to his older stepbrother – a soldier in the U.S. Army. So when it came time to get a haircut, the seven-year-old told his mother he wanted a basic military-style cut. And that’s exactly what he got – high and tight – just like his stepbrother.

Adam got his haircut on March 8. On March 9, his mother got a letter from the principal of Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School in McMinnville, Tennessee.

It seems they were not all that thrilled with the second grader’s new hairdo. The principal told Amy Stinnett that her son’s haircut was distracting – and needed to be fixed.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s and the change occurred with the advent of the Beatles and the other British Invasion bands in the early 60s. Even then, it was rare for a school principal to allow any hairstyle beyond a certain length. They had just gone through the period of DAs and ducktails and there were still some hangers-on then. I think they finally gave up in the mid-70s as younger principals and administrators took over.

The POS principal is indicative of a mindless, democrat-union shill who could teach no subject at all if someone hid all of the teacher’s editions of the textbooks.

My suggestion would be for people in that school district who are offended by his principal being out of control is to field a slate of candidates for the school board. Those candidates should run on a platform to fire that teacher for violating students’ constitutional rights to free expression. When they achieve a majority of the seats on the school board, they need to fire the principal.

The parents should also sue her and the school district and the members of the school board for damages.

I say, color it purple and tell them that your daughter is “transitioning” to being a boy. They will RUN and the lawyers will probably give the parents $10,000 if they sign a “no-sue” agreement. Don’t worry, it will be the most closely guarded “secret” at the school!

People who aren’t homeschooling by now, well, I don’t want to say they deserve this, because they don’t, but come on! What are you thinking?!

I am a huge proponent for homeschool but you have to admit that most people have to have two parents working just to make it. How we conquer that is by sending our four children to Catholic School.....Good Lord 2 in high school, 1 in 7th grade and one in 1st grade......the bill for that is astounding. However, my wife and I are not scared of college for our oldest in Fall of 2016 because we have been paying so much in tuition that it is just a continuation of what we have been spending unlike other parents who get their welfare education for free. Yes we still pay property taxes like most on here do but don’t get any benefit for education but I guess our streets are paid through them so we get something out of property taxes.

There’s only one way to “fix” it and that is to shave his head bald. Now, lets hear the complaints of distraction. That idiot principal was the only person to draw attention to the kid’s head. She is the distraction. Anyone have a picture of Bobby Ray and his hair cut?

It’s a pretty sad state of affairs in McMinnville – especially when you take into account that Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School is named after a local war hero.

Navy Corpsman David Robert “Bobby” Ray was killed in action during the Vietnam War. His final act of heroism was to use his body to shield a Marine from a grenade. The Marine survived. Ray did not. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

FWIW, I had that haircut at that age ...

Aeons ago ...

The principal made a bad decision by disciplining the youngster. You made a bad decision by calling her “butt ugly.” Maybe you both could reevaluate your decisions.

That’s what I was wondering, I guess egg shell bald is the only way? Only other thing I can think of is a wig.

I went to HM “A” school with him. I think he was an Air Force medic before he joined the US Navy. He was a great guy.

Interesting they refuse to name the principal, isn’t it?

Is it Shishawnah?

Thanks for your concern. You think this was just a bad decision? Hardly. This woman represents everything that is wrong with government education. This was an intentional act based on an ideology that is responsible for the sad state of affairs we find ourselves in today. She says she respects the military. That’s a lie. She’s just another statist who thinks the system is about her and not those it purports to represent, or those who pay for it. I find her ugly in many ways.

This is a Mohawk:

I saw something similar but better dressed walking down the high street in England in the early 1980s.

Sent her an email and it bounced with a message of “email account disabled”. Don’t suppose it was because people were not supportive of her actions do you? Guess I’ll just have to send her a letter.
