Ted Cruz, the junior senator from Texas the entire Democratic conference loves to hate, officially kicked off the 2016 Republican presidential primary season with his March 23 announcement on the campus of Liberty University. The Houston Chronicle broke the story two days prior to Cruz's formal declaration of a White House bid, but anyone who was remotely following U.S. politics over the past year could have safely assumed that he would make good on his presidential ambitions. As the Chronicle pointed out its in scoop, "Monday's... announcement will culminate two years of open musing about running for president that began nearly the moment voters elected him to the Senate in 2012."
Cruz, in other words, has wanted this job badly ever since he made his first trip to Washington as the new senator from Texas. Moderate Republicans, Independents, and Democrats may scoff at his presidential campaign as an effort by a young and inexperienced political opportunist, but Cruz clearly believes he has at least a decent shot at the Republican nomination. And why wouldn't he? Establishment Republicans, after all, eye-rolled his 2012 primary contest in Texas, only to wake up the next morning shocked that he defeated a Republican incumbent who had tens of millions of dollars in his war chest and who seemed unbeatable.

Sen. Cruz introduced a bill to prevent what Obama is doing with Iran. This points out that he doesn’t have the pragmatism to be President. That’s the Reader’s Digest version.
Laugh track: equating FDR with Stalin, Nixon/Mao, Reagan/Saddam, and Obama/Ayatollah as positive examples of pragmatically dealing with undesirable world leaders.
Laugh track #2 “But, at the same time President Obama has acknowledged the brutal nature of the country’s leadership, he has made the pragmatic calculation (a correct one, in my view) that just because Iran is a terribly bad actor in the region doesn’t mean that the United States cannot negotiate with Tehran when an opportunity presents itself.”
People with principles, as in our Founder's principles, do not pant after the presidency. In fact, our Founders believed it was a serious fault to desire it too strongly.
Hillary and Obama have that bad kind of desire which makes them the head cheese to where they are enabled to lord it over everybody.
Cruz, on the other hand, has the proper desire which is "disinterested" meaning the job must be done and it must be done well, but not to the point where people's freedoms are impinged.
Ted Cruz is the only potential candidate who actually believes that Americans don't need a Grand Babysitter. Most of the other ones believe that they can hold our hands better than the next guy.
We don't need a babysitter with taxing prowess, we need that one who knows that we are completely capable of doing what we need to do to make America work like a fine-tuned machine, while doing his job of upholding the Constitution.
When the HuffPo says that Cruz disqualified himself, they mean that Cruz opposes laws that force people to purchase health insurance. I honestly believe that the HuffPo would oppose any candidate who didn't support coercion into purchasing health insurance. Cruz's opposition to Obamacare is why HuffPo says Cruz has disqualified himself.
Someday the HuffPo may become intellectually honest. I'm an optimist like that.
In lieu of going to a Huffington thread, go to this FR thread and have fun mocking Arianna.

Did Arianna actually marry a homosexual or did she just convert him?
She probably will decline debates were Cruz to be the nominee. She will be so far ahead, she expects, as to not need bother with debates. Like LBJ, back when she was a “Goldwater Teen”, supposedly.
So, he's a master debater?
(Sorry, really...I couldn't resist...I go for low hanging fruit every time.)
I love Cruz...he has my support and will get my vote.
Ted scares the crap out of 0bama, the RATS and the GOPe. He is everything they aren’t.
This same clown doesn’t see anything in Hillary’s behavior to even blink at.....
Cruz is too ridged and dogmatic. We haven’t seen that
kind of behavior in a POTUS since ah,,,, ah,,,, this
morning.
Slick Willie’s ho “disqualified” herself a long time ago during her Benghazi fiasco and she’s still taking donations.
Yes, we know, Cruz is against the ever growing popularity of the war mongering suicide pact enforcement of the Federal upon the States, doing the bidding of liberal states that do the bidding of Mexico, illegals, muslims etc... forcing their ways on us.
Sticking our heads in the sand dogmatically, like jews carted away, that is the ideal for them.
How can one be dogmatic by trying to talk with the most sogmatic people of Iran? What strange world bipartisanship is this?
These people are nut cases of world retarded elites.
... young and inexperienced political opportunist ...

Cruz was on The Kelly File Tue. night. She mentioned that accusation against him.
He replied that while he had not been a community organizer, he had served almost 6 years as the Solicitor General of Texas and personally argued successfully and won the majority of cases (about 14, I think) before the Supreme Court.
He didn’t mention that he had worked for Justice Rhenquist and all of his accomplishments at Harvard Law; nor the fact that he had a law firm.
All of the media pundits and GOPe politicians that have trotted out Cruz’ “lack of experience” need to do some research on his bio. Then, compare his credentials to Obama , Hillary and the milk toast potential GOP candidates.
