Paris (AFP) - No winter access - “In summer you can reach it on foot but in the winter you generally stop before getting there,” said a resident of Meolans Revel, the other side of the mountain from the crash site.

He said “controlled” (DVR).
Not that it really makes much difference. All pilots try to control it as much as possible, unless there is something wrong with them, or so bad with the plane that it’s not possible.

Mirages flew by - Meolans Revel local councillor Thierry Brown tells AFP’s Isabelle Malsang: “The only thing we noticed was three Mirage fighter planes flying over, at least three times, around the supposed time of the crash.

Paris (AFP) - Sky was clear - Brown adds: “Estrop Head has very steep escarpment. No access is possible except on summer hiking routes. I imagine the rescue will be done completely by helicopter. I can hear helicopters overhead at the moment.”
The sky was clear this morning, with no rain, Brown tells AFP.

He added that access to the crash site will be very difficult and that the area, normally covered in snow, is currently dry. Thank goodness for Glowbull Warming...................

Pierre Polizzi told The Associated Press the noise began at 11:30 a.m.
“There are often fighter jets flying over, so I thought it sounded just like that. I looked outside but I couldn’t see any fighter planes.”
“The noise I heard was long - like 8 seconds - as if the plane was going more slowly than a military plane speed. There was another long noise about 30 seconds later.”

Sure, every pilot is going to try to control a rapidly descending aircraft if for no better reason than self preservation.
But not all attempts at control succeed. And unless the pilots attempts to regain control of the aircraft succeed, then the aircraft or its descent cannot be described as controlled. Regardless of what nonsense issues from the mouth of Shep Smith.

Question: just looking at one of the graphics of FOX..seems to suggest that the flight path..out over the Med..diverges significantly from a near straight north heading to Dusseldorf...has this been confirmed?
