Ted Cruz, the Republican Texas senator and unofficial leader of the tea party faction, surprised exactly no one when he announced Monday that he would seek his party's 2016 presidential nomination. He may be a first-term lawmaker and he may have been born in the Canadian city of Calgary an unusual birthplace for a wannabe American president, even if his eligibility is not seriously in question but his ambitions have long been clear..
Normally, campaigns for presidential nominations follow a familiar ritual. Candidates say that they're forming an exploratory committee and then delay an official announcement as long as possible. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is scaring most potential challengers out of the field without having even created an exploratory committee, serves as an extreme example of the typically protracted process.
Cruz cut to the chase. Rather than hemming and hawing as if he were working up the courage to ask out a high school crush, he announced that he was running, not just exploring, on Twitter at midnight....
The way in which he made the announcement, however, was unorthodox, and hints at the role Cruz is likely to play in the Republican primaries.

The fear is palpable. They are right to be afraid, they are going to be beaten horribly....
If opposition to Obama is bigoted and hateful and racist, due to Obama’s ethnic/racial background, then isn’t opposition to Ted Cruz also bigoted and hateful and racist, due to Cruz’s ancestry???? Are all these liberals bigoted against Hispanics now???
I’m waiting for Hannity to come on on Fox and I have to hear Trump whine about Cruz’s birth.
Cruz represents the finest in American Patriotism. No more parasites sucking off the the hosts. No more free ride for the damned moslems.
Every article will call him a first termer. They never said that about Obama, but it appears to be a major line of attack.
I thought their fave, Lizzie Warren was a first termer. Gee.
He forced Gov Terry McSatan to call off *his* speech there today. Cruz has spent a big chunk of his career here in Austin, where McAuliffe was at the same time organizing his demons for zero and proto-engineering Battleground Texas. You can believe there’s some bad blood there. Very satisfying when we took down Rather, who’s tainted Austin for a big chunk of HIS life.
OK, Ted on Hannity for the full hour in 4 minutes.
It campaigned to retain three radical liberal State Supreme Court justices in 1986, and it didn't matter.
The Times isn't as influential as it likes to think it is.
The professor is just another elite Communist asshole.
He thinks Cruz will provide plenty of amusement for the left, and plenty of trouble for his more cautious colleagues on the right, before he “burns out.”
With those credentials you’d think he’d have grasp of one obvious fact: A person can not be both “right-wing” and an anti-big-government crusader.
The two are mutually exclusive.
So is Rand Paul. It’s telling that they don’t use that descriptor (or divisive or “fireband”) against him very much. I guess allying yourself with Yertl McTurtle helps.
I always had trouble with telling my right from my left.
Brave Heart “ FREEDOM ! “
Prosperity.
America working again ( Ted Cruz ? Use that as a campaign slogan ).
Respect in the world again, home and abroad.
Rebirth of America.
Trust in America’s greatest asset, leadership trusting in it’s people once again.
The libs are quaking in their boots.
It is interesting to see the way that the liberal media is dancing around this. Nearly every article mentions his place of birth (Canada), many articles try to say that both of his parents were from Cuba, they pretty much all call him a freshman legislator. This article mentions a number of other liberal smears but attributes them to others, Like Sarah Palin’s annoying younger brother and Your Racist Uncle's Favorite Candidate.
It is all very underhanded but a little amusing to see these race baiting slimebags try to figure out how to form their lines of attack. They are ready to pounce, but they are not sure how to do it yet. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
Can you elaborate on that, because it's not clear.
Me!!!
