Call it the Marxist theory of surplus value in high-tops . . . On Melissa Harris-Perry's MSNBC show today, David Zirin, sports guy at the far-left Nation mag, called the NCAA tournament nothing less than "the organized theft of black wealth."
Zirin expanded his accusation to call the tournament the theft of "youth wealth." Speaking of wealth, Zirin has made a living out of adopting provocative positions, from supporting the boycott of Israeli athletes, to attributing dislike of Barry Bonds to--you guessed it--racism.

Bracket busted? How about a nice Marxist critique of the NCAA tournament? Ping to Today show list.
Gay but not happy!
I used to really enjoy college basketball. So far this year I have watched about 45 seconds of play.
Its really got to be shi**y to be a liberal. They are never happy about anything.
But do you consider it a theft of black wealth? I think that was the topic at hand.
I have become increasingly uncomfortable with watching a field house full of wealthy white people (because it is so expensive to get tickets) watching black kids mostly risking it all to try to make it into the NBA. Mr. Mercat and I used to have season tickets in Allen Field House on Naismith Blvd., the sacred ground of college hoops but got crowded out by reorganization and massive increase in tickets. They moved us to right behind the student section. The students not only stand through the entire game, they stand on their seats. I’m too old to do that. Having said that, it is awesome to watch the Jayhawks play in Allen Field House. I plan to do it one more time before I die. I will probably have to pay as much for one game as we did for season tix ten years ago.
People who spend every cent they get their hands on the minute they get their hands on it will never have "wealth."
You make a lot of money. I bet you don't have much "wealth" though, do ya?
Let’s make him happy and and ban blacks from college athletics.
It’s not so much that these Marxist bomb throwers come up with these ideas as it is that half or more of the American people listen to them and agree. That’s fine, do away with college athletics entirely. The supposed purpose of college isn’t to train future pro athletes, train community organizers in disruptive communist tactics, or to act as a social justice-feminist-LGBT activist training center.
The mere fact that the views of these flakes are promulgated through the media gives them “Face Time” and among today’s degeneracy that results in credibility.
By "risking it all" do you mean a torn ACL?
LOL. Amen.
Take some comfort......no one in their right mind watches MSNBC!!!
“But do you consider it a theft of black wealth? I think that was the topic at hand.”
More like a transfer of wealth to the blacks.
You can watch them lose to the Shockers fromt the comfort of your couch tomorrow!v
Um......No?
Liberals are the perpetually aggrieved. They wallow in grievance, real and imagined (but mostly imagined).
Its really got to be shi**y to be a liberal. They are never happy about anything.
True. Liberals seem to be pissed off all the time about something. There’s always some injustice, or some issues in which people aren’t treated equally, or big corporations exploiting the environment or their workers, or global warming— there’s always something to bitch about for liberals.
Actually I do although I recognize that “risking it all” should be reserved for our service men so I apologize for that. I assume that some if not most of these kids have this one shot at success and no wonder they are going one and done. What they do is a difficult full time job and they are learning a lot of skills that are not necessarily related directly to basketball. I find myself loving them like they were my own sons and then I worry. Once I realized that dynamic, I disengaged. I have enough kids and people to pray for. So I’m glad that they are getting this shot but I guess I’m cranky I can’t afford the tickets. LOL
