83% of the people will believe absolutely any statistic, even when it’s obviously made up on the spot.

I know people that have been offered 60% less than obamacare at work and the do without because it is to expensive.

And they love Obama!

Hate that evil company.
Soon they will have no CHOICE.
But they still love obama!

Part of the explanation for the stable results stems from the fact that most employers were already in compliance

Paging Captain Obvious.

600 employers, who already offered insurance that was in compliance ? What the hecks does this prove ?
it sure doesn’t back up the headline.

Then they give this stat, which now has me scratchin my head:

“But most employers aren’t changing their practices to discourage health plan enrollment, the survey found. Some 73% said they had no plans to change, while 16% said they made sure newly hired part-timers work fewer than 30 hours weekly. Some 19% said they reduced the hours of employees who consistently or occasionally worked more than 30 hours a week.”

I wonder what the stats are for businesses that offered insurance and no longer do.

You got it.

Most of those who still have group medical benefits from work, will see all that coming to an end. They’re like dominos, one company after another.

Most of big biz is doing their share to help Obamacare...a win win for them.

Absolute, total, 170% BS. The needle actually came off my BS meter, then a thin wisp of smoke came out of the back, then the faceplate blew clean off.

ON PAPER, just suppose that this is true. THE REALITY is, I’d like to know how many people have experienced the number of prescriptions that have gone from “level 1” to “level 3”, that sort of thing, recently? You know, where what you were paying $5.00 a month mysteriously goes up to $38.00.

There are a MILLION (literally, and that’s probably conservative)other ways to lower benefits invisibly. It blows my mind that in the 80’s, my wife and I insured each other and there was no COB (coordination of benefits). I could have had a heart-lung transplant and after my three month hospital stay get presented with a phone bill.

Like everything else...My folks bought a “brand new” home for about 17000 bucks....On one income....Gimme a bucks worth of regular...

Most never had to think about that stuff like that, just one generation ago.

It’s unreal....most the boomers have been getting the big shaft for years now.

BTW, thanks for reminded me I need a new BS meter too.

Mine nearly burned right through my desk and set off smoke alarms.

I was born in 1932....The Silent Generation.

We have been virtually ignored, but we’re also known as The Lucky Few.

It’s true....childhood was rough but we had it made when we entered adulthood.

This explains it.

I agree with your comments.

But an observation; The opposite has occurred with the boomers. For the boomers, most their childhoods were pretty darn good as most of their folks were riding the peak of a united, free and economically sound country.

By the time most boomers became adults, as the years reeled in, things started going southbound, and have been for some years now.

When I was working 40 hours per week, I was paying $492 every 2 weeks for "healthcare" insurance. My customer had "budget problems". My hours got dropped to 12 hours a week. First time I have not been a full time employee since 1973. The lesser hours merited less benefits and a higher contribution for my "healthcare" benefits. Since this occurred late in the year, my marginal tax rate was very high. The 12 hour weeks resulted in a gross of $2000 every two weeks and a net of $1,000 pay every 2 weeks. I was informed that my "healthcare" outlay was going to $750. Crap! Damn near everything I earned would be stripped away for a benefit that I haven't used since 2005. I dropped it.

My wife was able to add me to her employer plan. The benefits were better and no employee contribution required. That's how we're getting along now. Just in time for her too. Breast cancer. Two surgeries and radiation treatment.

The short answer is our costs went way up. Many people had to run for cover. Perhaps that is why some employers dodged a bullet. This year.

My parents purchased a house in 1961 for $19,000. It was 1700 sq ft, 3 BR, 2 BA, double garage, corner lot. My mom sold the place in Oct 2005 for $512,000. She purchased an 1100 sq ft, 3 BR, 2 BA, double garage near my sister for $496,000. Housing prices crashed. The $496K place was $330k by Nov 2011 when mom passed at age 83.

In 1972, I enjoyed low gas prices. Premium sold as cheap as 25 cent/gallon. My Honda CB175 held about 2 gallons. My 1967 VW used regular. That was priced at 29 cents/gallon with 30 MPG performance from the old bug. No crappy air pollution control hardware to jack up prices and kill performance. I earned $1.60/hour working the fountain at Farrell's Ice Cream or $1.30 + tips as a waiter. Cooking paid $1.55. I could do any of those tasks as needed. I earned enough to pay for my high school annual and costs for the prom and after prom party. No need to go begging to mom and dad for gas money.
