I believe that if they did this and Obama refused to retaliate then Netanyahu would obliterate Iran with thermonuclear weapons.
Not only as retaliation for the strike on the US but to protect against a strike on Israel.
I can see no other possibility in such circumstances.

No need to worry here. Why, just today, the regime’s “Anthony Blinken ... reassured ... lawmakers [that a] nuclear deal the Obama administration signs with Iran would prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon...”

EMP would cause the grid to go down.
The Grid will not come back up for days.
someone will stand trial for treason.

Yes, this is scary atuff. But, if it happened, where would Obama play golf, an activity of transcendent importance to him?

When they say “Death to America” it’s more like a slogan. They don’t really mean it.

Funny how Obama demands background checks for citizens to buy guns, but no background checks for terrorist that want nukes.*******************************
Why would he? They have the same goals.

The book One Second After, described such a scenario."
Yes. Routes to rural areas would be blocked first for the purpose of protecting rural areas from crime (with many extra checkpoints along routes through rural areas). Gas stations would be unable to pump gas and closed. Emergency/rescue/camping areas would be prepared around cities. Parks in rural areas would be closed and cleared by police and National Guard. For the most part, people most accustomed to hard manual labor, technical work and agricultural work would survive.
Here's what any nation that can launch a satellite could do. As accessed on 11/13/2011:

Excerpt:
However, the effects produced by a nuclear explosion were not fully realized until the Johnston Island Test in 1962. This nuclear blast had a yield of 1.4 megatons at an altitude of 250 miles. The explosion damaged a number of low earth orbit satellites and caused malfunctions and early failure of others. Another effect that was noted during the blast was a blackout up to 600 miles away of high frequency radio communications that lasted for hours. It was caused by disruption of the ionosphere. It also popped circuit breakers, street lights went out, burglar alarms rang, and power lines went down in Honolulu, about 800 miles away. In Nov. 1962, all above ground testing was halted and our testing and analysis was limited to underground testing, analysis of the existing atmospheric test data, nonnuclear simulation, and theoretical calculations.

If it’s “ballistic” and can go into orbit,
it can land anywhere on earth.

The dirty little secret is that they need only master orbital telemetry and have a launch vehicle suitable for LEO insertion of a nominal payload...they don’t need long range ICBM capability nor MIRV.
Besides, they’ve already demonstrated sea launch from a converted freighter...iirc

I will be okay. As long as it happens to every country I do not fear an EMP. The hipster and hood rat herds will be thinned however...

I’m betting Obama would willingly give them satellite technology
like Clinton did for the Chinese.

An excellent book that really opened my eyes to just how un-prepared I was.
As for a single EMP burst over America; it will take more than that to wipe out the whole country. Sure, we will be feeling lots of pain as a result, but the country as a whole will not be lost.
And I wonder what Canada and Mexico think of this Iranian plan. It’s not like the pulse will stop at the borders.

Fortunately our ballistic missile subs are immune to EMP and military command and control communications was supposedly hardened against EMP. That means though we would be crippled, the US could still launch a nuclear attack on Iran in retaliation. Back in the Cold War days the Russians were smart enough to know that a surprise attack on the US would mean massive instant retaliation... the doctrine of mutual assured destruction. The mad mullahs in Tehran would not seem to be deterred by the threat of nuclear annihilation and are either counting on Obama to do nothing but capitulate or don't care if their entire nation is destroyed

They have been monitored in the Caspian Sea launching at trajectories well suited for EMP deliveries that would float such a device up our southern border.

someone will stand trial for treason. Not a chance..The standard line would be "We don't have time for this, we need to get America back up and running again; we'll deal with it later". And it will never come. Stand trial? No. The citizenry needs to take note of the treasonous bastards and do the work themselves if such an even as an EMP attack happens.

Good one! Preppers welcome! Pings invited, of course.
The threat is real. There are more important links and info early in the thread from old news on Iran's capabilities for various kinds of launches of EMP weapons (at least three satellite launches so far, possibilities of offshore launches, nearby countries like Venezuela, North Korea, other allies of Iran surrounded by vast and vastly newer NATO resources all other powerful allies of the U.S.A.,...). Mullahs already stated their willingness to lose a million or so peasants to usher in their mythical era.

Aren’t most golf carts electric? Note to the point, if a successful EMP attack throws the US in chaos and tens of millions starve, golf course opration will likely be disrupted.
