When Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress on March 3rd, it was the third time he had done so. The only other person to address a joint session of Congress three times was the legendary British prime minister Winston Churchill.
The parallels between the two leaders do not end there. Both warned the world of mortal dangers that others ignored, in hopes that those dangers would go away. In the years leading up to World War II, Churchill tried to warn the British, and the democratic nations in general, of what a monstrous threat Hitler was.
Despite Churchill's legendary status today, he was not merely ignored but ridiculed at the time, when he was repeatedly warning in vain. Knowing that his warnings provoked only mocking laughter in some quarters, even among some members of his own party, he said on March 14, 1938 in the House of Commons, "Laugh but listen."
Just two years later, with Hitler's planes bombing London, night after night, the laughter was gone. Many at the time thought that Britain itself would soon be gone as well, like other European nations that succumbed to the Nazi blitzkrieg in weeks (like France) or days (like Holland).
How did things get to such a desperate situation, with Britain alone continuing the fight, and struggling to survive, against the massive Nazi war machine that now controlled much of the material resources on the continent of Europe?
Things got that desperate by following policies strikingly similar to the policies being followed by the Western democracies today, including some of the very same notions and catchwords being used today.

Sowell.... we never learn.
During the blitz Churchill recognized that Germany would overwhelm the RAF and destroy it if something wasn’t done.
He sent the bombers to Berlin.
Hitler made the mistake of retaliating instead of focusing on military targets
Those is the Obama Regime never learned the history that would save our nation from doom. They were skipping class, getting high on LSD and pot, chasing skirt and sleeping through the lectures. They bought the answers to the final test and paid others to do their term papers. Winston Churchill? Who is he? The last thing they want is to be reminded of church.
They should all have been drug tested before they stepped foot in the White House.
Normalcy bias.
Rhetoric and talking tough, alongside the wearisome act of carrying an unused big stick, leads to complacency and belief in the unassailable power of words. Why expend the energy and suffer the inconvenience of maintaining armed readiness when sternly-worded letters have kept the peace?
Eventually a generation arises without memory of use of arms, having only faith in words.
About that time, the evil recognize the unwillingness of the mediocre to fight, and return to the law of the jungle - while the mediocre inhibit the good, equating defensive force with evil.
How is Hillary (or Warren) going to be any different from our current regime? The same kind of Van Joneses/Susan Rices/Eric Holders/(if not worse)....etc etc will still be their brain trust.
And those who have supported Obama’s two terms will still blindly vote for these same clowns.
Nobody even notices Republican party control both houses of Congress. (Except when Obama whines about his dream budget.)
History repeats. Particularly the most difficult, challenging and expensive lessons.
Churchill is a far cry from Obama and his rules of engagement
That’s right. Goering should have gone after English radar stations but instead Hitler concentrated on `vengeance weapons’.
When the container nukes containing Iranian bombs go off on major mainland American cities, Barry will explain that he just read about it in the Washington Post.
Next stop then for the Obamas? Radiation-free Hawaii for a little golf and sun. Separate planes, of course.
Conservatives remember the past, while progressives remember the future. A future that never was and never will be.
correct
Why would you have those two people in the same sentence?

So true. Today we have folks here singing the praises of Vladimir Putin. We have a president and Congress that will move tens of thousands of people from Syria to the U. S., that have been raised to hate the U. S. since birth. Islam is seen as threat neutral.
And this doesn’t even address the fact that people who think we should be U. S. Constituion observant, are labeled as terrorists.
So right, but even more dangerous than the lead-up to WWII. Atomic weapons, Iran having bases in S. America, every country in the world wanting to take up down, etc. This will not end well. Obama is our judgment from God, and ISIS will soon follow. You can say this over and over again, but nobody believes you.
should all have been drug tested before they stepped foot in the White House.
Way too late, I don’t think they still do drugs, but the drugs they did warped their minds so much that the believe the unbelievable, trust the untrustworthy, and demonize the sane as insane.
This may be going beyond Orwell and into Alice in Wonderland.
“”Not one of the lessons of the past has been learned, not one of them has been applied, and the situation is incomparably more dangerous,” Churchill said in 1934. And every one of those words is more urgently true today, in a nuclear age.”
Scary history repeats itself when liberals dumb down the schools.
In the past, the U.S.A. rescued Britain and Europe from annihilation by the Nazi regime.
Now that the U.S.A. is in a comparably dangerous situation as Britain was prior to WWII, who will step in and rescue the U.S.A. from the mistakes of Obama? - No one, if Iran gets the bomb. God help us.
