I’m confused by your post. He’s no Jesus Christ, but he’s also no Mitt Romney.

I was being sarcastic...

A certain number of Freepers insist Walker pass a purity test to be a legitimate conservative...

I must confess that my personal favorites are Walker and Cruz. If I was voting solely on principle, I’d pick Cruz, but when I see the track record of executive actions, I pick Walker. I’ll take either, and would love if either got the presidency, though.

My exact position as well...

I just want a POTUS that will fight for and love his country, obey the constitution, work with Congress for the good of the country and surround himself with highly competent people...

You can't obey the Constitution and be for amnesty.

Scott Walker has run on conservative rhetoric. And he has governed as a true small government conservative. And he has actually run a government. You can’t say that about any other republican candidate.

>>I never saw this question asked about The Klown.

The Klown was their Messiah come to set them free from work and responsibility. Scott Walker is their worst nightmare—a man of principle who is willing to stand up to the Progressive Machine. The fact that he is crowding out the media-selected “electables” in the GOP race has them seeing a repeat of 1980 and the 20 years of prosperity that followed. Prosperity is the water than melts the Progressive witches. It is the only thing that slows and even reverses Progressivism.

You can't obey the Constitution and be for amnesty.

I was unaware Walker was still for amnesty...

WALKER: Well, I don’t believe in amnesty. Part of the reason why I made that a firm position, is that I look at the way that this president has mishandled that issue. I’m one of the governors that join — I was one of the first governors that joined the lawsuit that has been successful at least on this initial technicality, and I hope we prevail ultimately throughout the courts. And then going forward, the way to enforce it is not through amnesty. I think the better approach is to enforce the laws and to give employers, job creators the tools like E-Verify and other things to make sure the law is being upheld going forward.

HOST CHRIS WALLACE: The question [in 2013] was, ‘Can you envision a world where if these people paid a penalty that they would have a path to citizenship?’ and you said, ‘Sure, that makes sense.’

WALKER: I believe there’s a way you can do that. First and foremost, you have to secure that border, or none of these plans make any sense.

WALLACE: But it’s a little bit slippery here. Back when you were the Milwaukee County Executive, you actually supported the Kennedy-McCain comprehensive immigration plan. Are you basically saying as part of a comprehensive plan, tough enforcement, E-Verify, the 11 million people here pay penalty, they get citizenship?

WALKER: No, I’m not talking about amnesty. The reason for that, over time –

WALLACE: But you said you supported it.

WALKER: And my view has changed. I’m flat out saying it. Candidates can say that; sometimes they don’t.

WALLACE: So you changed from 2013?

WALKER: Absolutely. I look at the problems we’ve experienced over the last few years. I talked to governors on the border and others out there, I’ve talked to people all across America, and the concerns I have is that we need to secure the border. We ultimately need to put in place a system that works, a legal immigration system that works. And part of this is to put the onus on employers, getting them E-Verify and tools to do that. But I don’t think we do it through amnesty.

See post # 25 ...sums it up pretty good on the subject of amnesty...

Yeah, I noticed that in 2012 when the purity Freepers, as you call them, were nitpicking everything Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich were proposing. Yet, they were the only two conservative options in the race. I knew Gingrich wasn’t perfect but he was a helluva better option than Romney. Walker and Cruz are the best options for conservatives in 2016 yet we know there will always be people in this crowd who won’t think they’re conservative enough on every issue. Wake up! We can’t start defeating the liberals if all we do is nitpick the most conservative candidates and allow another RINO to get the nomination to lose again to an extreme lefty!

In order to win leadership in Wisconsin, Walker needed to begin the process of educating the voting public on issues that needed attention. He knew that if he took on that task during the election, that he would loose the election, and never get a chance to reform. So instead, he positioned himself as a person in a learning process on these issues (even though he had very developed positions, based on his experience).

This “questioning” approach caused a lot of Wisconsinites to ask questions too, and be open to arguments, instead of hanging on the bumper-sticker responses they had been fed for years.

Questions like “why are our government bodies providing accounting and banking services for public unions” in the form of union dues deductions?

“Why are municipalities forced, via public employee contracts, to purchase health insurance from a union-formed company”, that are charging exorbitant rates?

“Why is state university tuition increasing, while these same schools are accumulating huge cash pools that are being buried in the university budgets?”

Walker’s political style is to plant questions in the minds of voters, not to tell them what they want. These questions cause the voters to come to the conclusions themselves.

Walker has raised issue awareness, and in turn, brought voters to his position on those issues. He wants the voter to make it their idea, an idea they can now explain and support.

Bottom line: Walker knows you win leadership roles by educating voters. He plays the humble role of teacher.

Walker opposes illegal immigration, as he’s stated innumerable times. That fact seems to have escaped the notice of some FReepers.

I wish FReepers would get off the “Path to Citizenship” canard. The United States has had a “path to citizenship” since our founding. It has taken various forms in various eras, depending upon the needs of the nation. But, it’s always been there. It is in the CONSTITUTION, for Heavens’ sake.

Our problem in this era is that this president will not enforce the current requirements.

Make that 3 political machines...Bush, Clinton and the Obama/Jarret/ muslim brotherhood syndicate.

If lowly, non descript, degree-less, white Scott Walker can stand up to these 3 multi billion dollar political/crime machines, and walk away victorious, we will have witnessed an epic battle and victory for the ages.

IMO, and I do not exaggerate...SW vs Bush/Clinton/Obama is the modern day reminder of what Jesus Christ faced when he walked into Jerusalem to confront the entrenched corrupt powers of his day.

My God protect Gov Scott Walker and his family.

I think there are a lot of supporters for both Walker and Cruz here which might hand the Dems the presidency if they get behind just one candidate
