How did the school district, school, and principal determine who is and who is not black?

What is the precise definition of black?

They should organize a “People Headed For Success” event and exclude the black students.

Yep.

Had it been a white principal excluding blacks from attending a meeting there would be nothing wrong with it, right?

“Racial affinity groups are often used in learning communities to help facilitate positive identity exploration and provide people with similar experiences a space in which to pose questions and process topics.”

To quote from a favorite sci-fi novel of mine: “This is, how do you say, ‘warmed leavings of a male cow’.”

not meant to give a connotation that we were trying to be exclusive

True. It was not a connotation -- it was the real thing. And they didn't just try -- they succeeded.

So this clown is costing taxpayers $170,731 per year (off a few months per year).

He got an undergrad degree in education and a masters degree in education. That’s about the easiest field there is at most colleges.

If my ex could get an undergraduate and masters degree in education from a much more respected university, I believe most anyone could.

Because there is nothing at all racist about excluding a group of people because of their color or ethnicity.

You say you hate racism? Nietzsche: “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster . . . for when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”

“According to Principal Rouse, the conversation was an opportunity for students who identify as Black to speak openly, honestly, and productively.”

The implication being, that those students will not do so in the presence of anyone who does not "identify as black".

“Racial affinity groups are often used in learning communities to help facilitate positive identity exploration and provide people with similar experiences a space in which to pose questions and process topics.”

One of the finest examples of impressively polysyllabic bureaucratese gobbledygook I have seen in a while. Funny, with Selma, all the Rosa Parks stuff going on that segregation is seen as the key to honesty and productivity... when those who saw the negative impacts of integration on all but the most gerrymandered school districts were shouted down as "racist" for pointing that out.

If you want education--real learning, not just warehouses for the worker bees' offspring--remove the distractions of race and gender and teach something solid. As for sexuality, well, people will figure that out.

Pathological altruism -

In many branches of psychology, altruism is situated among the highest of moral virtues. Moral psychologists highlight the personal and societal benefits of altruism (Colby & Damon, 1992), and those who study civic engagement offer guidelines for strengthening individuals’ propensity to engage in altruistic acts (Bowers et al., 2010). Clinical psychologists even classify altruism as one of the most mature defense mechanisms available to us (Vaillant, 1993).
The arguments put forth in Pathological Altruism challenge these notions of the good by offering insights into how and why individuals can become too self-sacrificing or can do harm to the very people who are expected to benefit from prosocial efforts. By showing the mix of good intentions with themes such as hording, self-righteousness, and addictions that are taken to extremes, authors provide readers with a strong understanding of how people alleviate their own personal distress by trying to help others. Specific chapters offer varied insights into how altruism affects self-care, relationships, and civic engagement. Taken as a whole, the book helps readers better imagine how they might participate in civil discourse.

Why Spoil the Fun of Good Intentions?

This book offers a well-balanced sense of how altruistic acts can cause harm to the self, to any intended target(s), and to society at large. Although not organized into these categories, Pathological Altruism highlights the problems that can emerge when personal, civic, and civil agendas are left unchallenged...

When I was in high school in 1973, we all were called to the gym for an assembly. When we got there we were separated by race, whites on one side of the gym, and Hispanics (Chicanos is what they wanted to be called back then) on the other. Then Cesar Chavez got up and gave us a speech about supporting migrant farm workers and boycotting lettuce. No kidding! We all sat there thinking “What the hell?”

I’m sure the all-black participants at this racist event spent most of their time abhorring black-on-black crime. (S)
