Am I the only one seeing the Drudge Report starting to pander to the left lately?
Is he being threatened to change the way he does things with his website?
No need to answer straight away but I would suggest a more critical eye.
All this time Mr. Drudge has been a steadfast right of center website. He has always driven the left crazy with his way of framing any issue with an alternate headline meant to evoke a certain, um, right feel; for the lack of a better way of saying it.
What say you after giving it some thought?
I could have written what you did. How well I remember finding the FR link that March day!
:-)
Stop being paranoid you goof
You are sort of right. He was the first to publish it, and it put him on the map, but the rest of the story is that the real heavy lifting was done by people at another news source (Time maybe?) who could not get enough corroboration to have their editors publish it.
So, they gave the story to Drudge and he ran with it.
It was Newsweek and as I remember it they were afraid to go with the story. It was still unconventional at that time to report on presidential love affairs. Also, Drudge still has a link to FR. His links show that he tries to be balanced, but those who go to his site frequently have a feeling for his politics.
He’s called the Internet’s front page.
I love the way he puts inappropriate and sometimes hilarious photos UNDER the news story. Of course they apply to the following story but I get a lot of laughs out of it. It’s not too blatant, just a bit kooky.
That really is his best quality right there.
Thanks for all the feedback folks. I guess a lot of it depends on who is filling in at the desk at the time. No way can one person maintain the 24 hour news cycle alone. I bet I check in on Drudge 5-10 times a day. I have noticed sometimes the headline will read a certain way then I come back later and someone has changed it to sound a bit different. Usually better.
Drudge is almost unreadable on an iPad. The pop up ads keep making the page reset. Too bad, I had enjoyed Drudge for years.
I have no experience with iPad but if you can download the addon Adblock Plus for your browser you won't see those ad's any longer.
If you use Adblock plus on the iPad, it blocks Drudge...looks like the whole site is a popup.
But... wouldn't that require people having to think for themselves ?
Where the hell did you go?
This is for Windows, and may not be of any use to you, but maybe it will give you an idea for something you can do on the iPad.
